I'm hoping for this as well, but a lot of people think his hip flexor will take longer to heal. If so, it sucks that someone will lose their job because our punter is hurt!

Podlesh to PUP? That would solve the issue right there.
*Cutler's first throw in a playoff game is a TD. Destined for Greatness.

I believe he would have to been on the preseason PUP before any practice to qualify to be on the regular season PUP, unfortunately. I originally thought the same thing.

Doesn't that mean he can't come back until week 6 or so? I believe the bears expect him earlier than that.

He's in the last year of his rookie contract and I can't remember one play he's made in the regular season. The last thing the Bears need on their DL is a player that never produces .... ANYTHING!
I feel bad about Price too, would of been a good story knowing his background, but Wooten did take Favre out of the league with that sack, so there is 1 play. Who knows he may be cut too? I don't care about the 7th rounder, wasn't Webb a 7th

Can't be put on PUP unless you started training camp on PUP. Not like baseball where there's a 15 day DL.

Price couldn't finish practices and it's not like he had a secure roster spot even if Okoye wasn't signed.

You're right, how could I forget? Ok, so he's got one play.

Yeah Wooten has to be let go. He is always injured and hasn't turned any heads. Why hang on to old JA scrubs?

I'm surprised that the NFLPU didn't want something like this, imo, even if it were 30 days. Seems to me that if a player get a temporary injury, he is either going to sit out the rest of the year, hurting his progress and career, or maybe losing his job. Doesn't seem right to me.

Worth a shot for only a 7th. At least Emery isn't scared to admit a mistake, even if it's a minor one, and move on.

In an odd and circuitous way this has all worked out. We wanted to get Okoye signed first thing in FA....for whatever reason this did not happen.....we brought in a bunch of pretenders......though Nick Collins should stick......gambled on Price........and then Tampa Bay gives us a gift.......Okoye comes back at the Vet min.....(though we will probably have to eat the remains of Price's contract....?!) We wind up with the guy we wanted all along.....and Nick Collins to boot.....for depth...

I feel for Price and his situation, he has been through a lot personally and medically recently. I was pulling for him. As the players tell us when they hold out “it’s a business” . In this situation the Bears were able to get an equal /better guy that isn’t a project.
If you take the emotions out then this makes perfect sense.

I wish Price the best and hope that he has been smart with his money so that he can take care of his family.

That's right, the 7th rounder on a roll of the dice for Price, and the third rounder on that bust Marshall.... oh wait.

I hope Emery keeps rolling the dice.

It is not like we were going to get a starting LT or RG with the pick

didn't they also inherit 510,000 of guarentee contract they are paying him this year ?

He was doomed from the start here, he is not a NT or a run stuffer.

I understand that you cant put to much stock in a seventh round pick, but, talented players can be found in the seventh round. I wonder why the Bears just didn't put him on the IR for the year and bring him back next year.

He's probably not NFL-ready right now, but I think he will be worth something down the road, I thought he had a enough upside to take a risk on him, by putting him on the PUP list or IR. From the way that Hub Arkush was talking about him on the Score recently, he seems to be a good kid that has had a rough family life.

Plus he will be around if the Bears want to pick him back up later.

Agree it seems like a bit of a dick move to not IR him. But Price may have wanted a shot to get picked up by another team.
