Hello All,

I am not going to sticky this, because it is not something that I am using yet. Using this year to see how things go and see how closely it matches the table week to week. This scoring is too easily manipulated if people realize how it works, so playing with ideas of penalizing people for wrong picks. But, all in good time.

Here is how it works. There are x points available every week where x is the number of tippers. Like for week 2 this week, 61 people got their picks in. So there were 61 points available each game. Those points are divided up evenly, to the nearest 0.05 point (always rounding down to make sure I stay UNDER the x points each week), for those that picked right. Those who miss picks in a week get 0's for everything. People getting underdogs has a huge effect in this type of scoring and those that pick it right deserve the max points.

So, how does the table look after week 2? It is below. I have week 1 score and week 2 score after the rankings. The range is MUCH bigger in this type of scoring and it makes you go outside the box for picks, because if you only ever pick the favorites, your score is going to suck.

I guess we will see how this goes. Will be interested to see how closely it resemebles the Leaderboard as we get further into the week. Just take this is a bit of fun, it means nothing.

6th in this, tied for 37th in the regular bracket

Oh noes, you know how to break the system! ;)

This scoring is designed to give major props to guys who pick underdogs and get it right. If you are the only one to pick the winner on a game, you get major points, instead of 1 point in the regular scoring. Trying to strike a balance of rewarding people for knowing something when everyone else turns away and thinks it can't happen.

Neat idea but I'm not a fan because of the ease of manipulation vs really trying to pick the winners. I do like the power ranking or confidence picks systems. Rank your picks 1-16 and if you get that pick right you get that many points. Get the pick wrong and loose that many points. Imagine how many points would have been lost on the patriots last week! Haha

Either way, thanks for putting all the time and energy into this contest!

Yeah, that is my dilemma. It is too easy to break it. Pick 100% underdogs and you get a shitty score in normal scoring, but you murder this scoring. Have to try and balance it it out with some kind of penalty for trying to do that, but in the end, it only hurts the people that are really going for an upset. So yeah, not sure I will ever get this to work, just an idea and ran with it :p
