.140/.197/.158 through 62 PA's thus far this season, and not evident in his statistics is his horrible approach at the plate: first-pitch swinging at anything tasty as hard as he can with an uppercut, usually resulting in topping a ball straight into the ground.

Ozzie cannot be allowed to bat him as high as he has batted in the order this season (38 PA's in the 5-6 spots), if he is allowed to play him at all. I think it has come time to just bench AJ for a week and insert Donny Lucy, because even a replacement-level batting line would be a marked improvement over his production currently.

AJ is playing bad. will he return to his normal form? probably, maybe a little less with his age now. i wander if the trade talks and contract issues with his constant battle with peavy and pitch selections is weighing on him.

i know for sure that lucy needs to start when peavy pitches. i dont want to see a south side version of zambrano vs barret
