The coaching staff is much more cohesive and experienced this season. Recruiting is going well for as bad as they looked last year on the field. Things are looking up. Still 3-4 wins this season with very few blowouts. That's an improvement. Get Lunt throwing bullets next year and the young defense has more time in the gym and they will match up much better against most B1G teams in 2014. They will win at least 2 OOC games this season. Now whether or not they can beat IU or PU to get to 3 or 4 wins is the real question. The offense should be much better. The D will still suffer from being too small/young/thin.

Lucky bastards tried to give it away. Hold on for a 42-34 win. Bad finish.

Illini kills Cins QB and turns it 38-17. Another TD pass.

Pretty good game. I was worried there for a minute with Cincinnati outplaying IL when it was still close (end of first half and early 2nd half). That fumble call was a huge momentum swing and pretty much was the turning point of the game.

That knee injury was pretty nasty though.

Let's see if that young D can keep improving. If the offense continues doing well there isn't any reason they can't be 3-1 headed into B1G season. Then it's time to figure out who they can beat in conference. I think 4 wins is very reachable with what I have seen so far.

The Cincy fumble was huge. Definitely the turning point.

How about Scheelhaase? Sure he has a noodle arm, but he and Cubit's offense are meshing like peanut butter and jelly. Our WR's are looking pretty good. Lankford is a speed demon, Barr is very solid, and Hull is Nate's go-to guy. Really wish they would have kept Hull at WR when he was a freshman. He wasn't a good safety, but he looks pretty good at WR. Josh Ferguson looks good at RB, but I wish Donovonn Young was performing a little better. Wilson, Davis and Lacosse are three really good TE's. If the offense keeps doing what they're doing, and moving the ball like they are, there's no reason they can't get four more wins and get bowl eligible.

Scheelhaase had more TD's in the first half today than he did all of last season (5 in the first half today, 4 all of last season).

Bill Cubit is our lord and savior.
