Brian McCann is the guy I want. Need a good veteran catcher and would rather have him than AJ back. McCann is my number 1 target. This is the only guy I ask for Sox please Hahn!!

if you go with mccann than you have to go with granderson, another FA bat to take konerkos spot and a SP...so basically they will need to go all in again or mccann would be a waste of money

I don't see why you would need Granderson if you take McCann. Now I'd like to see Elsbury join the team with McCann. Now we are talking about true repair to the lineup.

I'm scared of Ellsbury because of his injury history. Would still take him obviously

@TBTimes_Rays: #Rays will send minor-league LHP Sean Bierman (U Tampa) to #WhiteSox as part of Crain deal. Another player too. Should be final Wednesday

He might turn into a serviceable lefty out of the pen. Not bad.

If we sign Abreu he goes to first. Then I'd sign a catcher. I want McCann but that ain't happening. He's gona get close to $100 million. Ellsbury is good but he's 30 with an injury history and will get a big money deal. Maybe we sign catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Boston as our catcher. Let Phegley back him up. I don't want Granderson I'd be pissed.

Ya really that's what I've heard. Now well see. I expect us to sign him because of our Cuban connection hopefully

@Buster_ESPN: Red Sox don't expect to sign Jose Abreu; they figure he'll be signing with another team. White Sox, Astros now seen as frontrunners.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Astros have fallen short in the bidding for Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu.
Olney hears that the Astros bid between $50-60 million while indications are that the winning bid will be around $70 million. The Red Sox don't expect to sign Abreu, so unless there's a sleeper team in the mix, this leaves the White Sox as the likely favorites.
