The Cubs open up the season with a leadoff homerun by Alfonso Soriano on the second pitch of the game. Very nice.

Aramis Ramirez with a homerun on his first pitch of the season.

Roy Oswalt isn't pitching very well today.

Good hitting and a great pitcher at the mound? This looks like an easy opening day victory for the Cubs in the early going.

NICE thread.

Fonzie now 2/3 with a single and HR.

Fontenot was driven in by the Riot on a sac fly.

3-0 Cubs.

They look good so far. Big Z hit 94 on the fastball in the 5th.

Z was really shaky at first, nice to see him settle down a bit (get used to hearing that alot). 72 pitches through 5, so he should be able to go 2 more.

On a side note, how about CC getting roughed up bad against Baltimore. That would be crazy if he ends up sucking like he did at the beginning of last year. It would be real interesting to see if the fans give him a pass or get on him from the get go.

Cotts out of it with only 1 run given up. Heilman let Z's inherited runner score. 3-1 Cubs.

Heilman will let you guys down many of times this year, he will also complain that he wants to be a starter, i know the routine already.

I'm more of a Sox guy than a Cubs guy, but I'm so fair-weather fan when it comes to baseball that I cheer for both, so looks like a nice win for the Cubs tonight. Good pitching so far.

Looks like Z broke his opening day jynx.

I know it was spring training, but the way he was pitching...I'd have no problem with it. He was downright nasty...and his slider (I believe) is one of better ones i've seen.

Hopefully we get the Heilman of a couple years ago.

I'm going to the game on the 21st, and the promotion is a Big Z limited edition No Hitter mini statue.

One of the friends i'm going with is a Sox fan, so i'll see if I can snag his and maybe I can give it away to someone on here. Nothing big, but I know some of us Cubs fans (like myself) love these kind of collectibles.

Now Greg he is a very solid closer, he gave my Mets hell the past few years with Florida.

Good to see the Cubs win. Do you guys think that Fontenot is a decent enough second baseman for my fantasy baseball team?
