we're really in no position to sign a free agent, and it'd be rather silly to make moves to allow us to do that for a guy like Mcdyess who is only a very very minor help.
He can still play at a high level. He was the only one on the Pistons who came to play against the Cavs all series. He's a hard worker, wants to win badly, and has a lot of heart. Plus, he's anit-Tyrus in that he can hit that mid range jumper very consistently, and is capable of rebounding well and hustling on the floor.
I think he could be a starter or a backup, depending on what moves are made. He probably can't play more than 30 minutes for 82 games though.
What kind of money would he command?

IMO he will take the LLE, he gave up a lot of money to leave Denver. I'm not sure if we can beat some teams out though for him. A lot depends on how much did we raise our value in the Boston series. We might be able to snag a vet like that if they feel we're on our way up but I could see him going to Cleveland or something like that. They could really use him next year and he would have a very good chance at winning a title there.
But he would def start over Tyrus if he came here.
I've said it before but I think Brandon Bass is a guy we should look at. He should come cheap like 2-3mil a year and IMO could help us a lot
Shannon Brown sorry, how did we not know this kid could play?
You talk alot of shit over the internet JackFinn, come to New York F**G**
Nah, I only want the Bulls to sign young cheap roster filling roleplayers.
If we move Hinrich and resign Gordon and lose a Tyrus trying to trade for Bosh then McDyess would be a good pickup probably. But if we have the same team as we do now I don't see how we can bring him in.

Right now we could us some size at PF that can defend, score and rebound and he brings that. We are very thin at PF right now and we have no clue if we draft a PF that they can step in right away and contribute
The way this team is put together now Mcdyess helps out big time and if you land Bosh he's not needed based on Bosh playing 38 minutes and giving you exactly what you want from the PF spot

How much younnger do you want us to get? Rose-Tyrus-Noah-Deng are extremely young and Salmons and Kirk aren't really old either. I've heard from other posters that Dallas really likes Bass and seemed likely to pay him more, though I have no idea really.I've said it before but I think Brandon Bass is a guy we should look at. He should come cheap like 2-3mil a year and IMO could help us a lot
As for McDyess, I'd love him at the LLE or vet minimum.

Seems like Dallas is smart then..... How much is Dallas looking to pay him? Can they play him as well? He's never going to start in Dallas and with Dirk he's not going to get the minutes he could get elsewhere
If there was a way for us to offer him 3-4 mil for 3 years and stay under the LT with a chance to start he might leave
Mcdyess would be nice but I heard rumors that Cleveland wants him and I see him going there
I have no idea about Bass. I've just heard other people saying that Dallas liked him, but I have no idea if there is validity to that or where they are getting it from. I'd take him at 2-3 million for sure. 3/10 would be nice for Bass, but I don't know that we could get him for that.
4/16 maybe? I haven't watched him a ton though he seems like he'd be worth that much.

I would do 4 mil a year for him too. How much under the tax will we be? 2mil might be a bit low but I can see him taking 3-4 mil. I really feel Bass could beat Tyrus out for the PF spot. IMO if he was to play 30 minutes a night I see him as a 13 and 8 guy that shoots a high %. He's not that tall at 6'8 but weighing 250 is good. It seems like 6'8 is the new height for PFI have no idea about Bass. The way the league is 6'8 250 is decent size. He's bigger than Beasley. anything 4 mil or under I would sign him for. I think he would fit Noah and the rest of the team. I would like a Noah-Bass-Deng-Salmons-Rose starting 5 and he gives us more size and better scoring at the four then we get nowdougthonus wrote:

With the team as it stands, McDyess would be a nice pick up IMO. I think he's an improvement over Tyrus at the starting PF spot and who knows, he might be able to teach him a thing or two. If we end up getting a legit low post player (Bosh, Amare etc) then chances are that we "lack the funds" to sign him. Brandon Bass would probably be a nice pickup as well.

We might not be looking at him but I wanna be on record as saying if he goes to a team where he can actually get minutes he will be a 13-15pt scorer grabbing 8rebs a game. He's just in a tough spot being behind Dirk

He's done a good job in limited minutes with the Lakers in the playoffs, and I'm sure he'll hook on somewhere and have a solid pro career, but I'm not expecting him to all of the sudden have a breakout 20ppg season.

I would take Paul Milsap. Antonio is old and Bass would be nice but he seem like he has the perimeter syndrome. Milsap is much better.

Good point, I guess I'd take him either way actually. I was just thinking that he would probably take minutes away from Tyrus so he will tailspin back to sucking again. Also if we did get Bosh we'd still need some muscle and I think we would be making a push for the Eastern Conference Finals so having a veteran would help. If Tyrus is gone and Bosh comes in we still would only have 3 frontcourt players, we would have to pick up someone.Hendu0520 wrote:

I think most of us would like Bass or Milsap over McDyess but they won't come for the LLE or the Veteran minimum. If McDyess would come that cheap we might as well get him.
Oh almost forgot, teams like Cleveland and Boston could jump in and push McDyess' price up making it stupid to get him. I don't know we'll see.
He probably go to Bobcats though as hes got man crush on Larry Brown
