Report is Earl was asked to take a pay cut and declined. May be on his way out.

I don't blame him, he can get a decent paycheck somewhere else.

Bennett was overpaid for his production, but releasing him would be a huge hit to WR depth. If Wilson isn't ready to step up and either Jeffery or Marshall are injured for a significant length of time, things really get dicey.

Wr is deep in this draft plus there could be other teams releasing vet. Wr we can sign cheaper than Earl

It sounds as if the Bears are confident in Wilson taking over the 3rd Wr spot and I am sure he has improved a lot already working with Marshall and Jeffery. Along with that Hixon could be a surprise and may push for some playing time.

I really like Earl. He was a good player and played up to his value, but its money we can take off the cap. We really need Wilson to take reps and Dominick Hixon is here for cheap to be that extra veteran backup. And while Hixon isn't an incredible WR he's been decent when he got his chance and he's a taller body, better for backing up outside WR's.

And it would be nice to add another young WR to the mix for future development.

wilson can step in fine, i think. i mean, that's like the FIFTH target usually: marshall, alshon, forte, bennett, WR3. also, i heard some good things about the big WR Terrence Toliver, lately on various threads. but yeah, i could see them drafting a wr. aren't they looking at Dri Archer? rb/wr hybrid? for the return game, too.
