De Aza > Viciedo.

It really is a toss up. Viciedo .235-.285 obp. While de aza is .246 with .315 obo. By those numbers De Aze is better by alot but at the same time Tank has 16 HRs while de aza only has 5. I think id take Vicedo. Younger and has more upside.

Thus far, Tank has been a disappointment to me. He is a sucker for a fast ball up. I don't know if he will ever get out of that mind set.

De Aza: 246/315/361 - 86 wRC+ - 0.6 fWAR - 5 HR
Viciedo: 235/282/403 - 85 wRC+ - -0.4 fWAR - 16 HR

De Aza has slowly clawed his numbers up. Albiet, still low. Tank has the more home runs, and is younger.

Here is my question: Are Viciedo's 11 extra home runs been worth making an out 4% more of the time than De Aza? I don't think so, but that is just me.

Secondly, with Garcia back these two are the choices in LF until either someone is called up, traded for, signed, etc. Defensively in LF De Aza has a +2 DRS, and Viciedo -6 in LF this season. I admit De Aza has about 3x as many innings in left than Viciedo this year, but even going by career, De Aza is ahead of Viciedo by a good margin.

I would rather have De Aza.

Thats a really good breakdown. I didn't know how big of difference in defensive numbers they had. Another question... Having Viciedo might help us see if he can come out of this... Also he helps us loose.

Another priority for this team in the winter, is finding a legit closer & adding some better arms for the pen.

Andrew Miller needs to be a target as we severely lack any LHP in the pen.

Sure. I mean, Viciedo is only going to be 26 next opening day, and by definition isn't even in his prime yet. Some guys don't figure it out until they're a little older: Jose Bautista (29), Alex Gordon (27), etc. But Viciedo hasn't seemed to improve. His numbers this year are lower than his career numbers. He's young and it is, somewhat, of a gamble to trade him, but I believe its worth the risk.

I agree so too. I have no doubt he can bring some sort of worth while bullpen guy. A set up guy or a quality long guy.

I'm sure some team will take a gander at him. Still under control for three more seasons.

He won't have a ton of value, maybe a prospect or some reclamation guy.

Vicieo's bat is too shitty to waste at DH.

De Aza isn't the solution long term just because of his numbers keep regressing year to year. Even with his hot streak, its fuelled by an almost .400 BABIP. I still prefer him to Tank, but going forward he's probably a future 4th OF'er.

As far as OF'ers, I don't know who's available either. But Tank, and De Aza, aren't the answer going forward.

We need to sign Andrew Miller and Victor Martinez. We need a good veteran hitter behind Abreu. I'd still love to sign a starter just not sure which one. Obviously not Max and his $200 mil.
