Rumor has it that Starlin is Chicago bound. Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that the Cubs have called up prospect shortstop Starlin Castro. Hopefully he's the star that people around the league claim he will be. He better get every start at SS.

Well that's a lot sooner than a lot of people would have hoped. I hope he doesn't struggle, and we ruin yet another promising young talent.

The difference between Castro and every other single "superstar prospect" is that the entire league is raving about him. I never heard the Yankees brass gushing about Pie or Patterson while they were in the minors.

The last Cub I heard the entire league gush about was Mark Prior back in '02. And Prior was a stud until injuries.

Cashner called up to AAA! Vitters to AA! Castro starting today! Tracy will be sent to minors.

So you feel better about Castro because "the entire league is raving about him"? Then you bring up how the entire league "gushed" about Prior, who turned out to be a dud? That makes sense...

Prior was the shit! Dude are you kidding me? Injuries killed his career. He had all the talent in the world.

World Series HERE WE COME!!

Maybe not this year, I think the Cubs will be the best team in the league between 2018 and 2020 though.

Yeah, for one season. There's no guarantee that he would've been able to duplicate 2003 (or even 2002, when he looked pretty sharp as a rookie) over and over again. Likely, but not definite.

I'm really excited to see what this kids got. I watched him in spring training and he seemed to be really disciplined at the plate and had a great BA and SLG%. From what I've read too, he doesn't let his age get to his attitude. Hopefully he's a good player on and off the field. It also doesn't hurt that he gets his first start against 6 ERA Bailey haha

i finally am excited to watch a cubs game finally. i have watched every game this year and today is the first day since opening day i am excited to see a game. Actually going to be nice to see a player want to play for the love of the game and not just show up to get a paycheck

C'mon. How would the guy be playing for a paycheck when this will be his first time in a big league uni besides spring training? NONE of us know Castro's motives. For all we know, the kid could despise Theriot's weak ass, Lou for not putting him on the 25-man after spring training, and the Cubs brass for not promoting him earlier in the season.

Although I have said it all along they shouldn't bring him up, they have to do something to jump start the offense. This to me is going a bit far. I realize it's only the first week of May but the hand has to be on the panic button before everything spirals out of control.

I agree with Cubbieblue. Things are getting out of hand and we need some run production because our pitching sure as hell isn't gunna get us the W's we need. Ask Gorzo about that one
