They let him walk with the expectation of not having to fire him.

Anything they got in return was an extra bonus.

So what. The Cubs wanted him bad enough to want to sign him while he was under contract with another team. So are you saying the Cubs new they were signing a shit GM/soon to be team president, just so they could send the Sox a shitty PTBNL?

However the one thing he did do was draft good players in Boston. The frustrating part with him was that he would trade them away like David Murphy for Gagne past his prime, trading away Sanchez for Suppan. I thought he was lucky with the Nomar deal.

Theo's drafting in Boston is completely overrated. Outside of Pedroia and Paplebon, he drafted very little. You already said Bucholz is too inconsistent and Elsbury had one really good season and a couple decent seasons. That is it.

Are you drunk?

I am saying the Sox were delighted to get rid of Theo because he was near the point of getting fired. That saved the Sox the trouble and anything they got in return for him was a bonus as they would have gotten nothing in return when they fired him.
