Not to be confused with Indian food. Any good food places in Indiana? Is there really more than Corn and Indiana Beach? Lettuce discuss.

Do they still make those Indiana Beach commercials? If so, damn...that's some impressive longevity from a jingle. I remember those commercials from my childhood.

Indiana is one of those states people drive through to get somewhere else...

I would not even recommend stopping for food.

The commercials are there every summer, same jingle.

Good gas prices and cheap gas.

Also good if you desire conservative politics.

bad if you want streets plowed.

Aw man, I miss Indiana Beach. Haven't thought about that place in ages, so many great memories.

Not in Illinois at least

Illinois doesn't have true conservative politics. Even most Republican counties are mostly moderate Republicans. Those conservatives in Indiana cut all funding to nearly everything, which is why roads don't get plowed. Plowing roads is a social service.

Anyways, sorry to derail this thread with politics....

Indiana food... uhh, I got nothing.

I remember driving from Indianapolis back home one Sunday morning. I stopped in the middle of nowhere for food, and came across this farm restaurant with the best brunch buffet that I ever had. The locals were staring at us the whole time, like "who the hell are you". We paid and left. But man, I took that ride back a few times after, and could never remember where the hell it was or what it was called. And the thing about buffet places, is usually the food isn't as good, because it's made in bulk. But I swear, every bite was made to perfection.

As someone who lives in Crown Point, I agree with this statement. There isn't shit to do but eat and take drugs, and the food isn't exactly ground breaking either, just standard bullshit. Although a bar near my house called Social 219 has some awesome pretzel burgers. That shits amazing, but be prepared to drop at least $20-25 on food and a couple brews.

LOL true, but I mean they never run any kind of drink or food specials. Some bars will usually have some kind of special. I got to be honest, to me, it's kind of worth it. First time I had something great on a pretzel bun. I just can't go there on a whim though because it can get real pricey, real fast.

I went to Valpo, so I have a couple of places to share. King's Gyros has amazing Gyros and fucking awesome rib tips. Greek's Pizza is excellent as well. If you are ever in Valparaiso those are two non-chain places that are decent go-to's.

I own a house 10 minutes west of Indy and lived there 4 years, never had any issues with streets not being clear and there are a lot of pretty amazing restaurants in Indy area. PS, NW Indiana sucks because it's SE Chicago

You live in Crown Point? I'm originally a NW Indiana native too.

If it was, the streets would get plowed.

This sounds like Beech(sp)Grove?....

If so, that's where the wealthy reside...so of course streets are plowed.

Does the downtown district still roll up the carpeting at midnight?.

They used to.
