noah is still kinda light. he's been in the nba for 2 years
First off, I would like to tell you guys how much I enjoy your website. Your podcasts are absolutely fantastic, especially yours Doug(no slight to the other guys). I am also a huge fan of your blog that you write on chicagonow.com. I'm glad I have a place to go to for great daily Bulls information. Appreciate it, and keep up the good work!
Now on to the question.
Who do you guys think would be the better pick for the Chicago Bulls...Earl Clark or James Johnson?
Both are very similar tweener type forwards and I was wondering if there was any difference in particular that makes you like one guy more than the other. I'm having a hard time finding one. Both seem to be great passing big men that can handle the ball and start the break if needed. Both are fairly decent shooters and have good forms so they should be able to improve in that aspect of their game.
James Johnson measured in at 6'8" 257 pds., while Clark measured in at 6'10" 228 pounds, so it seems like both of them have the size to play the 4 at the next level. Clark might have to gain 10-15 pounds, but that will be a piece of cake.
Doug, I read on the RealGM boards that you said you were going to downtown Chicago to meet with Givony. Did he give you any inside info on who the Bulls possibly like? And if so, did he mention Johnson or Clark?

Noah has no work ethic. Obviously that's something the Bulls would have to evaluate with Clark...
I defintely expected more replies out of this. I'm kinda disappointed.
Im definitley on the James Johnson bandwagon after the measurements ,i liked him before also but wasnt sure if hed be stuck as 3/4 tweener but now i think he can play pf at the next level and would be a good addition to the bigs we currently have.
James Johnson will have the better career. Clark seems like he'll end up under the threads of Sean Williams. His mind won't be on basketball as much management would desire. I'm not sure about him. Johnson seems to have a maturity, kid-like, and "not biting my tongue" swagger about himself. Ultimately, his skills will transfer to the next level of a Ryan Gomes or Caron Butler. He seems more athletically gifted than them two guys, with all due respect.
Derrick Rose is the future.
He told me the Bulls really like Johnson, but he printed that same rumor on DX. He basically said after he wrote his rumor mill piece after day 1 that no one would talk to him on day 2, so he didn't have any particularly great stories to share. We just watched Magic/Cavs game 6 and talked about a lot of stuff not related to the Bulls (since he's not a Bulls fan and didn't have much to day).Doug, I read on the RealGM boards that you said you were going to downtown Chicago to meet with Givony. Brad Miller's agent was supposed to come and meet us to watch the game, but it took us an hour to find a bar down town that had the sound on, and I think he found somewhere else to watch it by the time we did.
Right now Earl Clark is falling on Draft Express. If he's available, Bulls have to take this kid. Its a prospect for crying out loud. You take gambles with the best talent there at your pick. It's not like you're going to die if he doesn't pan out. I'm taking Clark over Henderson any day. Besides, at least he did come out when he was ready. He stayed in college for 3 years I just noticed. He made the right decision doing that. He couldn't do none of the stuff he did this year, in previous years. I remember when he looked weird running up and down the floor.
Derrick Rose is the future.

Cool stuff, thanks for the reply. I wish I would have focused on James Johnson more individually during the season, so I could get a better grasp of him as a player. All I got is a 2 minute youtube vid and scouting reports on him, so it's a little hard for me to judge him.He told me the Bulls really like Johnson, but he printed that same rumor on DX. I focused on Clark alot during the season and I was very impressed. I remember Chad Ford saying after one of Clarks workouts that Clark went up to a GM in attendence and asked him how well he did, and the GM said he's never had a player do that to him before. So to me that kinda sounds like he has a desire to become a better player. Idk, we'll see...
I just did a mock and here is how I see it shaking down:
1.Clippers - Griffin
2.Griz - Thabeet
3.Thunder - Harden
4.Kings - Rubio
5.Wizards - Hill
6.T-Wolves - DeRozan
7.Warriors - Jennings
8.Knicks - Curry
9.Raptors - Evans
10.Bucks - Holliday
11.Nets - Blair
12.Bobcats - Henderson
13.Pacers - Flynn
14.Suns - Lawson
15.Pistons - Mullens
16.Bulls -
So, I defintely see at least ONE of the two being availible, if not both. The Suns are the wildcard to me...I could see them picking one of them. Let's hope their availible because I don't want to see us reaching for Tyler Hansbrough at #16.![]()
I've like Johnson for a while but Clark is growing on me... I love Clark size and I feel he can do a little of everything but something tell me James Johnson is gonna be good

This why this board isnt flourishing just yet. People need to pick a board and stick with it. If we want to compete with those guys you have to help this board grow.

It seems like this board has died as of late to tell the truth. No loyalty I say.

I don't think there's any problem reading multiple forums. Nor do I think trying to create an us or them mentality with any other message board would help this forum grow. It's here for anyone who enjoys it.

There's not much going around releated to Bulls. Derrick Rose scandal is really the only thing, but speaking for myself I really don't like to touch topic too much. I think alot of people are interested in baseball right now and are occupied with that. I sure half of this board is students and are probably enjoying the summer too and have some sort of summer job
Newskool and others, if you are bored and want to talk more Bulls, you can go here http://www.dailysportspages.com/foru...referrerid=216 to register on the forums where I mod the Bulls board.
Hopefully Doug and others, you don't see this as spam, but if you do and you want to delete it, please feel free. I just figured in light of Doug not seeming to mind about posting on other boards, I would get mine out there . . .
The community is awesome, although I won't lie to you Newskool, if you think this Bulls forum is dead, well the other one is already buried in the ground. We also don't have the kind of experts that hang out here like Doug and Fred. I'd like to make it some kind of zombie though (are you still following this metaphor?) and bring it back to life so please feel free to sign up and post there.

Just kidding, no I don't mind. A user saying "hey check out my website isn't a problem". A user who does nothing but say "hey check out my website" is a problem.
Thanks Doug, for not hitting me with your ban hammer.
And don't worry, I rep your blog all the time on there.![]()
Doug I know you love Johnson and a lot of people think if he is at #16 then we take him. But I also have read that some NBA people are souring on him. Doug why do you think there is such mixed opinion on him? If nothing else I would think he can play some 3 and 4 off the bench and bring toughness, ball handling, passing, shooting and would play right away.
