Asked Jonathan Toews if there was any scenario where he wouldn't sign contract extension with #Blackhawks: "Very doubtful."

My guess is both have already signed but cant say anything until July 1st.

Fans from other teams heads will explode when they find out both Kane and Toews signed for 8.5.

It's believed Kane-Toews initial ask of CHI on extension is around $12M/yr each. They'll end up lower but still could be $10M+ AAV players.

Salary cap going up pretty big over this year and the next, then who knows after that. Anywhere around $10mil would be fine.

With a healthy Kane and Toews both, the team has a chance to win the championship every year.

As a fan, that's all I ask for is a chance.

$10M each for Conn Smythe Winners isn't a bad deal at all.

Which is why its important to keep Kane and Toews.

Those two guys give the team a chance. They are among the best players when the hit the ice.

They want to stay, if its around $11-$12M it should be worth it for future performance as well as past performance.

I think you are getting a little caught up in the moment here. Plenty of other players out there have a lot of hardware as well. $10mil is not a bargain for Toews...it is likely where he will come in and may be a deal that is fair for both parties (especially with the direction the cap is heading), but a bargain would be under $8.5mil a year in my opinion.

Probably.

I'll rephrase that to this: should Toews sign for $10 million this year, he'll be more and more of a bargain as time goes on and the salary cap goes up. We're not far away from UFAs getting $10 million AAV each summer.

The media has filled up this scenario with so much hot air i would be shocked if they signed for more then 9/9.5 apiece.
