We can exile Sammy Sosa without forgiveness yet hire Manny Ramirez as player/coach?

I am stunned by the level of hypocrisy here. Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Manny Ramirez have been welcomed back into the fold yet Sammy Sosa is continued to be treated as a leper. Bad karma if you tell me.

Pretty easy to me, Sammy didn't play for Theo in Boston, therefore he's worthless.

Manny Ramirez is a good comparison. He quit on Boston like Sosa quit on the Cubs.

I really don't care either way though. I don't hate Sosa and I also don't like honoring obvious cheaters. Whatever happens or doesn't happen with Sosa and the Cubs is ok with me.

Manny was one of the best hitters in the game even prior to his female fertility drug problems. As far as I'm aware, Sosa has never expressed interest in coaching. I don't see what the issue is...

Forget Sosa, but Manny was one of the top 5 RH hitters in his time. If he could possibly impart 1/2 his wisdom on hitting to the minor leaguers, it would be a BIG+.

If not, he could tell the kids how to be at odds with ownership, while being paid $20,000,000 a year like he was in '08 and make a trade necessary.

The fertility drug casts doubt on the authenticity of his career before he was caught.

Why are people comparing this? Do we really know that Sosa wants to coach? No.

Sosa wasn't welcomed back to the Wrigley celebration. Manny was hired as a player-coach.

Two different things.

Because Theo decides if Sosa comes back for the Wrigley celebration, right?

The hell with Sammy.
Theo doesn't want any "recent" Cub great to have any claim of being part of some future possible success. Period.

Nope. If the Cubs wanted a cheater, me-first coach, Sammy Sosa could have done the job just as well as Manny Ramirez.

Granted I miss Sammy and hope the Cubs and him get back together, but, Manny being hired means basically nothing.

Well, for Manny being all these things. He was still one of the best hitters I have seen in my time. People are being dumb about this. Doesnt look like McGwire poisoned any player. Get over it. Its not a big deal and maybe he can show the kids something.

Neither did Castro, but he got an extension.

No, but he's an average/below average player, so he fits that criteria for Theo Baseball.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Sammy and respected Manny in their juicer glory days.

But they were both malcontents with their respective teams that made them a fortune.
Teach the kids? I don't know.
