I don't like that he is 2 for 2 on errors this year.

Outside of that his bat is advanced for the pitching he is seeing. I'd expect him to hit Kane CO or skip to Fla. Not sure to be honest.

Part that bothers me 2 errors from throwing. Not good for a catcher.

I highly doubt he stays a catcher. His body and weight would destroy him behind the plate.

if that the case they should be playing him in outfield now for 2 reasons. .
1. to get him work and comfortable out there

2. save the wear and tear on legs, knees , body

The move lately is to taller/bigger catchers. While I agree with SilenceS in principle, they may keep him there for a while.

The problem with him is his size will hurt him and he wasnt a great defensive catcher by any stretch in college. His bat will be ready way before his defense would be at catcher. I know why they are keeping him there. Im just saying if he makes it to Wrigley, Im going to venture to guess it will be at left field or first base.

I doubt he can be the full time catcher any time soon, but I do hold out some hope that he could maybe catch twenty or so games a year. Kind of a Ryan Doumit/Eli Marrero type bat where he plays OF mostly (maybe a few games at 1B) and catches twenty or so games as a third catcher. Would be great for roster flexibility if he could handle it.

Agreed. What I meant that may not have been clear was that I do not see them switching him for a while in the farm.

Catching kills your legs.

Legs are where you get your power.

Having a power hitter play catcher seems like a waste when his bat is what matters.

The cocking of the hips and how fast they open is where power comes from. The reason why a great hitter is usually moved from behind the plate is that they get banged up a lot between thumbs/hand bruising and other nagging injuries from fielding the position.
