How can anyone be this attention starved? He puts out a tease. He knows what he wants. He is just being an attention whore...... punk.

If he signs with the Bulls I'm fine with it.

Interesting, does Melo bet on himself that he can get a max deal @ 32yo?

East is even weaker now. Melo needs to take advantage of this opportunity. Cleveland isn't setup to win a ring right now (unless they get Love of course)

Is there some collective bargaining agreement barring them from working out a creative solution, such as a written document signed by both sides that pays him a set amount of money over the next one or two years, then kicks in an automatic max contract for the following three or four years??

Or is that just too off-the-wall and not allowed in the NBA?

Does he even have to do 2 years or is there a player option after 1?

This is favorable to both parties. The Bulls are Carmelo's best chance to win over the next 4 years and the Bulls don't have a more viable option to give them the yin to their yang like Carmelo.

He could sign for 1 if he wants, but you would want to at least give it two years to fit in and give him a chance to get a little more money that second year.

No doubt hut my question is more focused on him having some flexibility.

im pretty Bulls will take care of him

that also gives the option to go back to NY if he so chooses

If he just signs for 2 years do we still have to get rid of Boozer for his contract?

If Melo were to sign for 2 games they still wouldn't want Boozer. What the 2 year deal COULD do would allow the Bulls to trade Boozer to the Lakers for Gasol and really stock up.

Mark Giangreco mentioned they might be trying to trade Hinrich to the Hornets. Don't know how that does them any good cap wise because they could just renounce him but maybe it would be for something to include in another deal.

As for the Bulls, they still haven’t heard anything from Anthony the last few days, and had been holding out hope, even with a Daily News story on Wednesday night that had the forward returning to New York in order to get the maximum five-year, $129 million deal.

All the Bulls could offer the free agent was four years, near the $75 million mark, unless a sign-and-trade could be agreed upon. According to a source, however, as of Friday the Knicks remained unwilling to help the Bulls out in any way with a sign-and-trade, basically telling their star that if he wants to leave for Chicago they won’t lend a hand in making up the $54 million he would be leaving on the table.
The Lakers were believed to be a third team the Bulls could possibly get involved in a sign-and-trade, but if Anthony is kissing them goodbye, why would they want to now pitch in?
Either way, the Bulls have continued to keep their talks with Pau Gasol alive and well going into the weekend, especially if Anthony is in fact returning to the Big Apple.

I've heard everyone pop out that $75 million number, but I have no idea where they got it. I thought it was debunked as a falsity.

That said, all these reports of Melo wanting a sign and trade to the Bulls but the Knicks not budging is a stupid narrative that can't possibly be true. They're asking us to believe this is Carmelo's position:

Carmelo: "Phil, I'm going to the Bulls...unless you can't work out a sign and trade. Then I'm coming back to New York."

Phil: "Um, well then---I guess we'll just not work out a deal. Welcome back to the Big Apple!"

This line of thinking is beyond stupid.
