Game 1 Day 3

Indiana 96 Boston 77

Not a very good showing by Boston as they got torched by a bunch of at best D-Leaguers. Marcus Smart's play the first two games is worrisome shooting 3-15 and looking a bit out of place when put at the point guard position. It will be interesting if he will be able to play against true NBA SG's to find his position. It is still early. Olynyk lead team with 15. No James Young again. Word out is he was injured in practice before games started.

Game 2

Orlando 87 Houston 69

With no Oladipo (rest), Elfrid Payton got a chance to do most of the ball handling for the Magic and did not disappoint nearly putting up a triple double with 12pts on 5-5 shooting, 8rbds and 9ast. If he showed any flaw, youth was just that having 4 turnovers including a laughable one dribbling the ball off his shin while all alone in the back court. Aaron Gordon had an alright game but I saw too much one on one play from him and his very inconsistent jump shot which was already known. He had 9pts and 7rbd.
A forgettable game for Houston. Nick Johnson continues to impress me and in my opinion was the best player all around on the court. He was very comfortable and in control at the point guard position as well as making up for his size with his athleticism at the 2. Johnson had a rough shooting night as did the rest of the Rockets scoring 12 pts.

Game 3

OKC 98 Brooklyn 84

Both Lamb and McGary had very nice games. Lamb was top scorer with 26pts and added 8 rebounds. McGary was very impressive and his game is growing on me. He has a lot of different skills you would not expect just by looking at him. He had 18pts, 13 boards and two blocks.

Only note of significance for Brookln is Teague still cant shoot and continues to miss lay-ups.......I think he just missed another and the game is over.

Game 1 Day 4

Memphis 80 Orlando 73

Not a very impressive game for either team on day 4. It seams as like the RUFA's and D-Leaguers are trying to make their best impressions. Aaron Gordon still looks awful and inconsistant while I'm not sure how they intend on using Payton and Oladipo together when Payton is more of the true PG that Orlando needs but Oladipo has very bad habits when he holds that PG spot. They would work well together if Oladipo works on not being a basketball black hole and let Payton get him better shots.

Jordan Adams had a very bad game (0-6) while the players fighting for a roster spot were enough to win the game.

Nasty looking ankle sprain for KCP. Going to guess his night is over. I hate those and it makes me cringe watching them

Game 2

Detroit 80 Miami 78

KCP with another dominating game putting up 26pts 7rbds including the game winning three point shot.

Napier with another bad game shooting 3-11 with 7pts 2ast. and 3 tournovers.

A bit late on game 3 score (wife got her car backed into)

Phily 92 Houston 71

Phily's summer league team is long and athletic and has a lock down defense. Noel looks like D12 2.0 and he can shoot free throws. Cleveland has gotta be kicking themselves for taking Anthony Bennett watching this guy. He only had three blocks but he had to of altered around 15 others. Even scoring from Philly with five players in double digits led by Casper Ware. Jerami Grant bounced back after a rocky start to the summer league with 12pts while there second round pick KJ McDanials pitched in 15.

Houston struggled due to Phily's lock down D and was led by Jahii Carson (18pts) out of Arizona State and Jabari Brown (16pts) out of Missouri. Both undrafted free agents. Nick Johnson had a very rough game and was ineffective.

For those interested, there's some sort of free trial for summer league viewing today. I saw the announcement on the NBA's twitter account, but you can probably find it on their website as well

I got an email about a "free trial" the day it started. I downloaded the app and clicked on it but they still wanted me to purchase.
