The ominous delay between No. 1 overall pick Brady Aiken‘s arrival in Houston to sign his contract and the announcement of an official deal now has some clarity, as Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Aiken has an issue with a ligament in his left elbow. The Astros are now seeking to reduce his signing bonus from the previously agreed upon $6.5MM to $5MM, according to Heyman’s sources.

Pitchers man... so many good young arms hurt this year.

goes to show that these kids are being over used, forced to throw a ton of curves and and not well coached in LL and HS

Which is a reason that going the F.A. route on starting pitching might be an even better route than drafting. Pitchers in their mid to late 20's are fully developed. That's not the case with these high school pitchers who have been forced to pitch crazy innings and curves/sliders that their bodies, that aren't fully developed, cannot handle.

Really, all pitchers can have injuries. But paying big money for someone on the F.A. market (e.g. Jon Lester) wouldn't bother me as opposed to forcing a top pick for a pitcher or forcing a trade just to get a pitching prospect.

So...that means that the Astros could have picks number 1 AND 2 in next year's June draft, if I'm not mistaken?
