Looks like Alcantara learning the difference between major and minor league pitching this weekend, hopefully with some help he'll adjust

Not sure what is the deal with Wood but he is getting worse. His WHIP used to be his strong point but now.....

What is Alcantara's splits RH vs LH? Seems he has had more success hitting LH

Looked over his Iowa status and he was a shade better hitting RH. He SHould be good either way. Sounds like an adjustment upcoming.

Jake Arrieta's stuff is really, really good. I really hope he can keep this level of control up.

Jake Arrieta.... i still don't even....

He's going to be 6th in k/9 after today with pitchers having 75 or more innings. He'd be 56th in bb/9 out of 129 pitchers. He's 3rd in ERA. He's 3rd in FIP but may end up 2nd after today. He's 12th in strand rate. I don't know if he will but he should start to be in the cy young conversation though Kershaw is gonna win it.

Also, I love lamp.... and Rizzo.

Arrieta:
9.85 K/9
2.65 BB/9
BABIP: .273
GB%: 49.5

FIP: 2.14
ERA: 2.12

IP/GS: 6.07

If I can find any fault it is he needs to be avg closer to 7 IP per game.

I personally would rather have him as a #2 behind Lester. That way they are running a 1 and a 1A in a play off series. As long as they have that running they have a decent shot with the potential line up next year.

Short body of work. 6 ip per start. Not in the convo

If Eric Gagne can win a Cy Young, I don't see why a dominate starter that only goes 6 innings per start can't. I get that he isn't "qualified," which is right to keep him out as a starter, but I think he'll reach that plateau by the end the of year.

He may...but until then he's out of the convo
