With all the bashing that GarPax gets, I thought I'd post this article. it appears that GarPax have set the Bulls up pretty good moving forward into the future. We still have the Kings 1st rounder and have contract flexibility moving forward.

With the huge bump in salary cap, the Bulls should be able to keep their players and sign some good ones. I'm done with the 'Melo Drama', but the more I think about it, Melo is just a fuckin idiot! Really.

-----------------------------------

"The Chicago Bulls had a successful offseason, not only for next season, but for the next three. In fact, to fairly evaluate the front office’s performance, it’s worth looking at the long-term plan to see how well the salary structure and future additions have been considered.

Part of continued success in the NBA is managing salary cap and accruing assets. Not only are the Bulls remarkable for assembling a roster which is capable of contending for a title this year, but they’ve also planned ahead so they can continue to build upon the existing core over the next few years without losing anyone."

If Derrick Rose is not healthy we are dead in the water.

But I agree this offseason went better than I thought it would.

I wouldn't say "dead in the water", but Rose certainly is what's gonna make us a legit contender.

So Bulls will likely need to give Noah max money in 2 years.

I really think Rose is coming back to form regardless of the two previous injuries.

I totally agree with you.

His first injury has had 2 years to heal, which was the small benefit of him not playing much last year. The second injury is a more minor one and has had plenty of time to heal.

I'd say he will prove a lot of doubters wrong this year. I have a sneaky feeling that better days our ahead for us bulls fans..

The team would be better off overall if Derrick Rose isn't the bell cow he was before. This shouldn't be the same offensively challenged team as it was from 4 years ago when Rose won his MVP. I really hope Rose isn't out to prove he's back at the expense of the offense as a whole.

Doubtful, he's on the wrong side of his career at that point. He'll be 31.

Optimism doesn't seem to be popular around here nor does anyone NOT saying GarPax need to get fired.

Can't win a championship without Rose being close to what he used to be, few teams can without their best player. We've seen the level they can reach without Rose and it's good not great. As constructed I think what you have is potential that Rose doesn't have to dominate every game but he can do it when he feels it and they have other players who can have that big game in between when Rose does. There are times when Noah goes nuts with a triple double, Gasol against certain players can recapture his glory days, Dunleavy can get really hot, Butler too. The key is everybody having a steady game all the time and stepping up big time every now and then. The more I think about Gasol, if Mirotic can play Pau can take a game off every now and then during the season to give his body a break and be ready for a playoff run. The same goes for Noah when he has a minor foot injury like always, he can take a game off instead of playing through it and aggravating it.

As for the cap. They've continued to do a good job of staggering when the big contracts expire so they can maneuver around them. They'll resign Noah at which point Hinrich will be retiring. After this season they can look at Butler, does he improve his shooting enough to want to keep him or he may be resigned anyway and be the future Hinrich. But they should see enough out of Snell and McDermott to see if they make Butler expendable. If Snell doesn't make the improvement Dunleavy could return. Bairstow could show them enough so that in two years they could trade Taj's expiring contract as he slips past age 30. Doubtful Gasol goes into another contract.

Flexibility

i think you better keep an eye on the Knicks. Wouldn't shock me at all if the Knicks offer Noah a max offer sheet. I really think Noah and Melo hit it off and Melo returns the favor and ends up recruiting Noah to the Knicks.

Will Noah then return the favor by saying :angryfinger: to NY and staying here?

Difference is unlike the Bulls the Knicks are equipped to put money where their mouths are. Plus, Noah has strong ties to New York. Wouldn't be a stretch at all if the Bulls start crying poor.

I'll take that to mean that the Bulls went and got someone good at some point between now and when Noah becomes a free agent. Otherwise we should have enough to keep him assuming the cap keeps going up, especially if it goes up like some people think it will with the new TV deal.

I'd let the Knicks take him. He'll be on the decline and won't be worth that max contract in a matter of years.

I am not sure why that article was even written. The capping going up helps everyone equally. The Bulls have less flexibility in salary going forward than over half the NBA. The Bulls have a protected Kings pick that may end up being a 2nd rounder.

This is one of those stories that gets kicked in the offseason to generate hits. It does nothing more than generate false hope for people who are casual basketball fans.
