Athletics acquired DH Adam Dunn and cash considerations from the White Sox in exchange for RHP Nolan Sanburn.
Chicago is expected to cover $1.3 million of the $2.5 million remaining on Dunn's contract. The A's were on Dunn's limited no-trade list, but he waived the clause for the opportunity to play for a contender. Dunn, who has indicated that he might retire after the season, has never played in a playoff game. The hulking slugger has batted .220/.340/.433 with 20 homers and 54 RBI for the White Sox this season and the A's are hopeful that he'll spark a suddenly dormant offense. He play regularly in the DH spot versus righties and is expected to join the team on Monday.

Sanburn, 23, is 3-1 with a 3.28 ERA and six saves in 42 relief appearance with Class A Stockton of the California League this season. Entering the 2014 season, Sanburn was ranked as the number 10 prospect in the A’s organization by Baseball America.

DeAza traded too. Amazing. I like the two pitchers we got for him. Picked up some quality 3 prospect pitchers on last couple of days

I think right now the most important thing is that Wilkins can now show if he can play. Playing first today. Hopefully he can hit. If he becomes a 20HR .280AVG and 320 OBP. We will have a solid lineup

hahn actually got players back for underperformers this year. the only guy i like is sanburn but you never know with any specs.

Oakland's really going into the tank after they traded Cespedes. The Angels swept them this week-end. They needed a bat more than they needed another pitcher. I think that Beane outsmarted himself this time.

more reports had the giants,dodgers,a 's and another team wanting dunn. it was the willingness to take on 1 million that lead to the deal.

I talked today with a kid who played with Sanburn in the minors. He told me that Sanburn came up and hit 100 on the gun in low A. He said that he was highly rated by the A's in their plans.

No he wasn't and I do not believe he was as good as they made him out to be. BUT...... the A's did not need another starting pitchers and Cespedes was a middle of the line-up guy who could hurt the ball. It was a bad trade in my view.

Cespedes may be one of the most overrated players in baseball. The guy is a solid baseball player, but he isnt this star that the media acts like. Add in his age and I dont think Oakland will miss him in a year or two.

i mean i would love to have him but the way mlb network and espn talk about him you would think his slash line is in line with trout.
