16 k???? Whoa

2 Coghlan
1 Baez
1 Rizzo
Soler 2
Valbuena 2
Castillo 1
Alcantara 3
Kalish 2
Wada 1
Watkins 1

Spread the love. Not like Alcantara and Baez had 7 together.

I wouldn't be surprised if they switch hitting coaches this offseason. Some one that had a history of good BB Err Manny ahem.

On Turner:
7/22 5 IP 6.03 ERA (Mia)
7/27 5.2 IP 5.69 ERA (Mia)
8/3 4.0 IP 5.97 ERA (Mia)
8/14 2.1 IP 5.80 ERA (non start)
8/19 2.0 IP 5.77 ERA (non start)
8/27 3.2 IP 6.15 ERA (1st start and got shelled for 6 runs)
9/1 6.1 IP 5.83 ERA 1 ER
9/8 6.0 IP 5.84 ERA 4 ER
9/14 4.1 IP 6.20 ERA 7 ER
9/21 5.0 IP 6.25 ERA 4 ER

As a Cub starter: 25.1 IP 16 ER 35 Hits. Way over a 1:1 ratio on IP:hits. So he is backwards there. BB:SO 7:14 2:1

2 games in the pen: 4.1 IP 3 hits 1 ER 0 BB 1 SO.

my opinion is he should be a pen arm.

Turner needs an offseason to work on adjustments IMO. You can only change so much during the same season. But worst case he should take on Villanueva's role. Depends on how well the Cubs do on the FA front. Wouldn't mind holding onto Wada and Wood. Even if they add someone (ideally Lester), let's assume he replaces Jackson that leaves 2 rotation spots open between Dubront, Turner, Wada, Wood, Jokisch, someone outside the organization?

I mean it sounds like the Cubs are letting Wada walk, and don't really know what's going on with the rest of them

Seems kind of like a Pyrrhic victory. Honestly, I'm just glad they are holding their own now against teams like St. Louis and MIL.

Following the July 4th trade, the Cubs lost 15 of 19.

Even with that stretch, they were 2 games under .500 from May 16th until the end of the year.

The first 5 weeks with Veras as closer, and prior to Arrieta joining the rotation, they were 14 games under. Since then, much more respectable. And that's with the youngsters struggling. Hopefully those struggles end and they really start to provide value.

They lost Castro and Rizzo for a month, as well.

They struggle at the back end of the rotation, as most teams do, but they have looked far more respectable late.
