Just came across on Twitter.

Thoughts?

Seems to me like a plan to get Raanta to play more as Crawford has been on fire in Chicago and there's no reason to sit him.

If I had to guess, I'd say they may be comparative shopping so to speak. They've seen what Darling has done here and in Rockford over like 7 or 8 games. Now they want to see what Raanta can do playing regularly. My feeling is that unless he really lights it up for the Hogs....he might not be back up for awhile. Darling was at 1.83 and .935 plus the strong resume he put up while here, gives Raanta a pretty tall hill to climb. Unless Darling really blows a tire with the Hawks, I think he's here for awhile.

That'd be my guess, although I never would've thought of that had you not mentioned it.

I would of thought Leighton would be called up if that was the case.

I think they may trust Darling more for the roadtrip.

It could be based solely on numbers. Darling and Raanta have both played 3 games for the Hawks so far this season. They both have a .933 SV%, but Darling has a 1.98 GAA compared to Raanta's 2.63 GAA.

According to Eddie O it's to get him some playing time before the circus trip.

And from what I read in the paper this morning, Eddie was exactly right. Raanta will be joining the Hawks on the road trip after playing last night for Rockford.
