The offense isnt good enough to win or stay close either. It was known before the season the D wasnt going to be good, but the O sucks too.

They kill themselves with pre snap penalties. In the rare occasions they look like they're threatening to have a scoring drive they get holding penalties or drop the ball or Jay fumbles.

It's hard to overcome 2nd and 3rd and longs when you want to run screens and 3 yard passes all day long

They are the best defense in the NFL.

The truth is that 17 points is a pathetic total that 28 teams average more than.

The defense as bad yesterday, but the offense was pathetic.

Why compare our point total and not our scoring average to other teams' scoring average unless you're being disingenuous and/or making an irrelevant point? Trust us: we get it, the team sucks and it's not repeatedly breaking news

Your expections are hilarious. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers score 7 points and yet you some how expect Jay fucking Cutler to go and drop 30+ on them.

One team has scored more than what the Bears scored this week against the Lions at home and that was the Saints in a game they lost anyways.

I really think that the Cover 2 is dead. Unless you can stack a DLine, it's useless.

My only request next year is for a DC who is overly aggressive. Like a Ryan brother.

This is 100% false.

Tucker was finally being "allowed" to shitcan Lovie's scheme this past offseason, the Bears used a 1st round pick on defense, & the Bears also spent tons of money on free agents for the defense.

This is what annoys me about the offense from last year to this year. Well, besides they suck. They do NOT stretch the field at all this season and every team, announcer, coach, ball boy, and CCS knows it. 2 of the better WR in league and teams don't even seem threatened. We start off the game with a couple screens and they work but the problem is the D MAKES ADJUSTMENTS!! (Tucker) but we just keep on Dink and Dunk 3rd and 8 run 5 yard hook.and its so bad this season as opposed to last year that even a 5 yard penalty seems insurmountable. If we got behind down and distance last year it wasn't even an issue, this year its a drive stopper. This offense is so pussified now that a first down throw is incomplete don't expect to see Matt get the ball. The offense has to be perfect to s ore with this scheme meaning no dropped balls and no penalties. And today's NFL that's damn near impossible. Trestman should see these fucking things but he doesnt. Its a shame the time is running out on Trestman and he has no idea how to stop the clock.

And the offense having 7 3rd and 18 and not staying on the field had nothing to do with a tired defense. Ya, not a great defense but can only expect so much when on the field 70% of game

The Bears defense gave up 24 points in the first half to a team that was struggling hardcore to score recently. The tired because they were on the field crap gets old, especially when its used to explain something that didn't actually happen.

After the first 3 drives of the game for both teams. The Bears were winning 14-3 and winning the TOP 5:55 to 5:30. Not a large margin but does not support your claim of them being tired. From this point on the allowed 3 very long TD scoring drives to Detroit to help give Detroit a 24-14 lead.

So as always try to keep it in reality. The Bears offense and defense were playing like shit on Sunday completely independent of one another. The Bears did get an easy TD off the Bears defense providing a turnover on the 3rd Detroit drive of the game. After that turnover was converted into a 14-3 lead. The Bears defense imploded and was walked all over on 4 of the next 5 drives. Mind you that the Lions were having serious troubles scoring and then they break out against the Bears defense. They didn't break out because the Bears offense was playing awful. They broke out because the Bears defense sucks & decided not to apply pressure to Stafford after the first few drives of the game. Which as we know means the Bears secondary is about to get shredded regardless of who the opposing QB is & regardless of what they offense is doing.

The Defense sucked badly against the Lions. There are no excuses for what they did. They killed the Bears that game & the game was 31-17 in the 4th QTR when Cutler finally decided to toss his first INT of the game. Something he does way too often but was not the reason the defense got shredded that day.

It's comical people can believe such nonsense. The Bears are bad on both sides of the ball. Maybe you don't follow very closely but this team was built to win on offense. Thus, making the offensive shortcomings even more costly.

What part of this last off season leads you to believe that this team was built to win on offense?

Was it the 1st round pick spent on defense / CB?
Was it the 2nd round pick spent on defense / D-line
Was it the 3rd round pick spent on defense / D-line
Was it the 4th round pick spent on offense / backup Running Back?
Was it the 4th round pick spent on defense / Safety
Was it the 6th round pick wasted on offense / backup QB
Was it the 6th round pick wasted on special teams / Punter
Was it the 7th round pick wasted on offense / O-line

Was it the money thrown at two of the top D-line in Free Agency? Allen / Houston

Oh wait they spent money to sign Cutler in the off-season so that was their version of building to win on offense. No need to continue building the offensive line. Even though it was stupid to believe they would play all 16 games again with the same starting 5 O-line every game. Yup & expecting no more than the grand total of 1 injury on the offensive side of the ball in 2013.

Instead they stood pat on the offensive side of the ball and went balls deep with all of their off-season resources into the defensive side of the ball.

The myth that the Bears have built heavily on the offensive side of the ball is a joke. They have spent plenty on the defensive side of the ball. The problem is they spent it poorly and have Tucker as the DC.

So again the defense sucks not because of the lack of resources spent on that side of the ball. Don't worry though, the Bears will spend yet another off-season focused on the defense again heading into 2015. Which will still have people saying....but they are built to win on offense. Which isn't the truth but when was the last time that stopped anyone?

Cutler salary was a big hit this year but it becomes much more team friendly the next couples of years. That's assuming they don't part ways with him, which they very well might after this season concludes itself.

I was at the game. The only bright spot of the day was Megapunt. We were terrible, really truly terrible, in all other phases of the game. The defense didn't lose this game, the Bears are just a bad football team and bad teams lose games.

You're dumb at football. If you were actually "at the game", you obviously wasn't watching the same game that America witnessed. The defense absolutely got trampled again, which set the tone for the game.
