No, I don't. 70 games is incredibly hard to win in the NBA and with teams that don't have a coach named Thibodeau running the show, they rest their players down the stretch.

If they're 40-3 at the All-Star Break, we can start talking.

No, not in the West. Eventually they will cool off

Kerr won't rest players if he thinks he has a chance to break Phil's record. I can't even imagine the pleasure he would get from doing that.

I doubt they do, but they're going to be in the upper 60s the way they're playing right now.

yeah i have to agree with scoot

not only is it hard to win 70 but teams are putting emphasis on keeping players fresh and healthy during the regular season nowadays

plus no team wants that pressure...the 07 Mavs won 67 games and lost in the first round (ironically to GS)...thats embarrassing

Dirk had to accept his MVP trophy via satellite lmao

Question in the OP is written poorly. There are actually 12 teams currently that could challenge 72-10.

If Golden State played in the east, then yes.

GS is better off with David Lee not playing because his presence on the floor will severely weaken their team defense.

Nope. Look at the veteran leadership on that Bulls team and the basketball experience and smarts they possessed, as well as knowing exactly how to pace themselves while getting Ws and being coached by a guy who could manage it all and push the right buttons. I don't see how anyone ever does that again. They're a great team, but come on. They've lost 2 - that's 53-8 the rest of the way - I just can't see it. Teams are going to adjust to their system, the west is tough, injuries happen, and it's a hell of a grind.

Never say never. If the 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks (highlighted by Dirk, Terry, Josh Howard, and Coach Avery Johnson) can win 67 games (and lose in the first round) then just about anything's possible.

Those 3 players were quite good then, just saying.

Quite good- yes. Dirk was the only perennial All-Star on that team though. Not exactly the type of big names on that team that you'd expect to make a run at history/70 wins is all I'm saying. A lot of depth- yes. A lot of quality players- yes.

Nobody stays that hot for that long. They will get hosed off in the near future.

I think they're not that good defensively to steal wins with it when they have bad shooting nights.

But 60 could be in range.

golden state is great on defense

they're currently #1 in the league in def rating actually...so they have an elite defense

i know GS has a stigma of not playing d but they have been good on that side for like 2 years now

Steve Kerr really, really seems to know what he is doing.
