Joel Quenneville: "It was not an easy decision. It was tough on Mike [Haviland] ... [But] It's not the blame game here."

Not the blame game? Then what the hell was it? I'm guessing the reporters on this call with Q avoid ant hared hitting questions.

When I heard this an hour ago, I yelled so loud that my cat is still hiding.

This whole situation is beginning to smell like Gacy's crawlspace. Sooner or later, the entire secret will be unearthed. Too bad it won't come from any of the local media sycophants whose job it should be.

I would bet a lot of players aren't happy about this either. Especially the ones he coached at Rockford.I'm gonna miss Mikeys grin on the bench. The guy was always smiling.

"I had an assessement that there is some dysfunction to our coaching staff and we need a change," head coach Joel Quenneville said. "(General managerStan Bowman) did offer me the opportunity for the first time since I've been here to look if I need a change to our coaching staff ... and I had the opportunity to make a coaching change or all the necessary changes that were there.

fucking sellout.

From the outside looking in it appeared that Kitchen should have been the one to go. Who ever they bring in needs to take the PP reigns away from Kitchen .

Although his bio is gone from the Hawks website, managed to find this on a search.

In his seven-year minor league head coaching career, Haviland never missed the playoffs, including capturing the ECHL’s Kelly Cup in 2003 with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and in 2005 with the Trenton Titans. He posted a .600 or better winning percentage in six of his seven head coaching seasons and never finished with a winning percentage lower than .588. Haviland also earned the AHL’s 2007 Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award, given annually to the league’s top coach

My favorite teams
 1. Chicago White Sox
 1. Chicago Fire
 1. Chicago Bears
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
Special teams' problems usually get assistants fired.

Why not fire both?

Quenneville finally executed a successful power play.

Too bad his skate blades are in Haviland's back.

The real burning question is : Will the team hang up one of Haviland's suits in the locker room next season in honor of him?

Waaahhhh....poor Haviland. He won...in the ECHL. He was better as Fat Mike Haviland.

NJ passed on the hometown boy, and are doing just fine

Bring in Barry Smith to be the assistant coach and it'll be a vast improvement.

So you're fine with this, and fine with Kitchen staying.

But weren't you the person on the boards attacking anyone that criticized the coaching staff?
