"The source said Ballard is the only name on Chicago’s list of potential GMs.

Ballard denied an interview request from the New York Jets today, telling the Jets that talks with the Bears are ongoing and he has no interest in New York’s GM position."

Ballard the only name on the list? If this report is true, Ernie Accorsi owes the Bears a refund.

Too bad the source is Chicago Mike

I heard they had a secret interview this past Saturday. To create a bond of silence Ballard and Virgina made business sex then ate a baby.

  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
It would be a major upset if Chicago doesn't hire the hottest name on the GM hunt list ( only person requested to interview by all teams looking for a GM). However, they would be in violation of the Rooney Rule as it applies to HC and upper management hires if he is the whole list, so this is not likely 100%accurate.

Think that only applies for coaches, not GMs.

That's why Lake Dawson is coming in tomorrow before the announcement of Ballard's hiring. Then you can satisfy the Rooney rule, pretend like Wednesday is Ballard's first interview, and the NFL is none the wiser.

If they could bring Lovie back they would this is a fucking joke.

If Ballard is a great scout he better quickly figure out how to draft the next QB.

Funny. Everybody else with real credibility have more then one person on the list and the days they are interviewing...

Gotta feel bad for the Lake Dawson's of the world.....alot of wasted time for him as he seems like a popular person to bring in to satisfy the rule. Good enough to be a candidate but not good enough to get hired.

In 2003 the NFL, facing the threat of potential lawsuits, enacted what has become known as the “Rooney Rule,” named after the chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dan Rooney. The rule stated that for all coaching and general manager job openings, a minority candidate had to at the very least get an interview.

Didn't Chicago Mike spot Mel Tucker at Halas Hall last week?

At least he has Elite hair. That alone is a win for the team. Considering what came before him.

Agree. No matter how good Lake does it matters not.
