The SEA/GB was one for the ages. 3 quarters of terrible boring football followed by a 4th Q and OT of pure playoff bliss. THAT is why I love this game.
- Wilson had a historically terrible game. Yes, his WR didn't help him, but that happens to almost every QB in every game. Keep in mind, it was pouring the whole game. It's simple - he had a horrid game for 3 1/2 quarters. He got lucky on the heave it up 2 point conversion. He made a great throw on the Lynch sideline touch pass and two great throws in OT. The throw on the game winning TD was pure beauty. That doesn't negate the fact that he had a horrific game that put his team in the hole they were in. That's the beauty of it being a team game. His team (D, Lynch) carried him and he was able to make 2-3 plays, combined with some terrible football by GB (Morgan Burnett taking a knee, onside kick) to secure the victory.
- Playcalling by 'sure HC candidate Bevell' was, ummm....until the end of the game. Wilson was clearly struggling. The fact that they didn't use the read option more often early (in bad weather and with a meh GB defense) was baffling. He seemed like he got his shit together in the 4th, including a read option on the final TD drive in the 4th where Peppers was just baffled and didn't contain (sound familiar?).
- GB's mental mistakes were as big a contributor. Yes, the ST play, but the Burnett pick was the game. @ 5 min left. Takes a knee at the 50. Why not advance it? GB went 3 and out and Seattle got the ball back. Advance it, and almost in FG range. Kick a FG there with less than 4 min left. Now becomes a 22-7 score and game over.
