Agree.

I think the #1 need on the team - especially when drafting this high - is a premier LT. You can't get them lower in the draft. You need to take advantage of the high draft pick and get a guy who can anchor the line for a long time. Slauson, Long, new LT, Bushrod at RT, upgrade at C with mid-round pick - that's a line that can play well.

Defensive problems notwithstanding, you need to get that LT. As badly as we need a Safety, we need to be thinking LT at #7, not a Safety that high.

Now, is there one this year?

I see OT as a scary boom or bust scenario in this draft. JMO.

Anybody who thinks this team has talent and is just waiting on a coach to show up are seriously delusional. The talent we have fuckin blows. We don't have half the talent the Lions do even.

No one is saying the Bears do have a ton of talent. But in order to be highly successful in the NFL for many years, you need talent and coaching. Hopefully the Bears found the latter.

I am happy with the coaching hire, but I can see a backlash on the horizon though. People will expect results because of the so-called "talent" we have, and when those expectations aren't met there is going to be upset people. If one of two things happen, we are screwed long term 1) draft poorly the next couple years 2) fail to find a year franchise QB. Right now we are a shit team, and we need to avoid BOTH of those things to claw our way back, or we are going to be irrelevant for a long time.

Talent wise they're better than 5-11. Forte, Marshall, Jeffery and Bennett is still a very good skill position group. Long and Slauson are good players. Need a couple more linemen, especially tackles. Defense is where there main void in talent is, though there's some there too.

Offense has plenty of talent, just need a QB and 1 OT.

Defense needs a lot of help but already had many players who seemed better suited for a 3-4. Gonna need to hit free agency hard for defense cause it ain't something you can fix with 1 or 2 drafts.

There is some talent on offense, but who do we have developing behind Forte? RBs tires basically fall off when they turn 30, this is a well documented truth. Forte will turn 30 this next season. Once in a great while a RB can produce when they are 30-31, but those are backs with low mileage, and that certainly isn't the case with Matt. Marshall is in his 30s now, and already looks to have started slowing. Jefferey is a good WR, but he isn't very fast either, and he didn't look so great this past season.

Minus a couple of lineman our offense is OLD, and we don't have any guys we are developing that are waiting in the wings. Our team has been almost gutted of talent and just like on defense guys are getting older and when they are done, or decline, we have nobody else to step in. We already gambled and lost on a QB we paid an absolute fortune.. one of the worst things is that we sank tons of cap into old vets and are paying a premium for guys over the hill.

On defense, we have Fuller, and there's no telling exactly how good he'll be next season. At least we know he'll be solid. Other than that our D blows. Our O is missing a solid OL, and QB. That's pretty bad, and like I said above, our O doesn't even have a future atm.

We're going to have to sign some stellar FAs, and do a very good job getting bang for our buck. We are going to have to draft extremely well every year getting a few starters, and actually get backups that can produce in rounds 4-7. And hardest of all we need to hit on a legit franchise QB. Getting a bust of a QB alone can set a team back years. If we get burned in FA, or suck drafting, or fail hitting on a QB... just 1 of those happen and our "rebuild" is going to take more than 2-3 years. People saying we aren't that bad off and we could be contending in a year or two have no idea what they are talking about, and are some serious homers. I'd argue all 3 teams in our division are head of us, two wayyy ahead. The new regime has no room for error.
