Cubs Announce 2015 Regular-Season TV Schedule

The Cubs are going to be on four different local channels in 2015 -- CSN Chicago, WGN-Ch. 9, WLS-Ch. 7 and WPWR-Ch. 50 -- as well as occasionally on Fox-TV and ESPN on regional or national broadcasts. So this schedule will likely come in handy for you.

WGN-Ch. 9's first of 45 broadcasts will be Tuesday, April 7 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the St. Louis Cardinals, the club’s second game of the season following the national opener on ESPN2 on Sunday, April 5. (Note: I believe it's ESPN2 because ESPN's main channel is committed to the NCAA women's basketball tournament that day).

WLS-Ch. 7, a new television home for the Cubs in 2015, will have the first of its scheduled 24 games on Wednesday, April 8 at 1:20 p.m. vs. the Cardinals. CSN Chicago will televise as many as 87 games this year. The first will be Saturday, April 11 at 7:10 p.m. at the Colorado Rockies (this game is scheduled for CSN+).

You'll note I mentioned WPWR-Ch. 50 above. Surprise! As had been done in the past via WCIU-Ch. 26, some of the WGN-produced games will air on My50 Chicago.

Len Kasper returns for his 11th season in the Cubs’ television booth and will be joined by Jim Deshaies for their third season together broadcasting Cubs baseball.

Since you're likely wondering if you live in one of the blackout areas in Illinois, Iowa or Indiana, as of now you might wind up shut out of the 69 over-the-air games unless stations in your market pick up the telecasts for either their main channel or a digital subchannel.

I may have to go that route as well. I am not in the WGN or ABC-7 viewing area. But I am also considering cutting cable - so if I decide I want to see the games on MLB, I need to pony up not only for that, but keep the high cable bill also. Sucks!

Or is MLB available without cable? Roku/Apple TV or whatever?

You might be in the ml tv blackout area for games. Be careful before plunking down the bucks

I am in St. Louis, so I will be OK on Cubs games, and if I have to keep cable, will also have access to Cards games on Cable.

$130 per year, but have to watch on TV with PlayStation 3. My other TVs don't have devices that work with MLBTV, according to their website.

Not sure I like this idea. Maybe I should cancel cable, buy a Slingbox, and give it to my brother who lives in Comcast viewing area. I'd still miss the 69 over the air games, but I don't want to sit and watch 162 games anyway.

Or better yet, give it to my sister who is in WGN and ABC-& viewing areas and also has Comcast. Yeah....now we're talking.

What I do is what I call "hipster cable". I cancelled my cable years ago and have NEtflix and Amazon, which costs about $15 a month. I then give my friends with Direct TV and COmcast access to my NEtflix/Amazon accounts and they give me access to their accounts.

When it comes to NFL season I send my friend $25 to get NFL Sunday Ticket. I am sure the same could be done with MLB TV.

So stealing...nvm

Better than paying way too much for so little.

People wouldn't have to steal it if it was priced right.

I don't think I'll worry about the billion dollar companies losing out on $10-20.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
So IOW, you have no problem stealing someone's intellectual property, because you don't think the price is right. Do you walk into your grocery store and steal a couple of tuna steaks because they are charging more than you think they should, too?

I'm going with MLBTV this year for the first time. I have AppleTV so it's a no brainer. Seems priced right to me.

Im going to get the mlb package with my cable provider. I have mlb tv last year online and it was pretty shitty. It was delayed. The streams would lose connection all the time. It would freeze quite often and it wasnt on my end. It took me 3 months to get a 20 dollar charge put back into my account because they charged me twice in a month. Maybe they fixed the glitches this year, but it was pretty awful last year.

OK....I get to see a whopping FIVE games, plus five more possible.

Plus those against the Cards - and three of the five nationally broadcast games are against St. louis. So I really only get TWO additional due to Nat'l broadcast.

Silence - you said you get it thru Cable provider? What provider? How much do they charge? Is it same as streaming?
I think I may actually pull the trigger on the MLBTV Premium. And a Roku.

Think if you do mlb.tv they also throw in the minor league games and this year they have all the cubs affiliates.

I don't see anything that says minor league games are included. But I wouldn't be that interested, especially with so many guys having "graduated". I might take a look now and then for certain guys, but I can't see myself watching games.

I do see that spring training games are included, so I suppose the decision should be made prior to Opening Day.

Yea, I have Charter which is like 140 for the whole year. I was going to buy it on there but it renewed my mlb.tv package for like 134.99. So, I am guessing they charged me a Premium package which is kind of strange since I didnt have Premium last year. I will probably buy the Charter package for my dad. he doesnt use computers at all. I dont think he has ever even looked at one. He loves baseball and WGN cutting to such little games. I figure its the least I could do for him.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
I guess I'm going to need MLB.TV this year since WGN America won't be covering games. Hmm. Did anyone figure out if Cubs MiLB teams are covered, too?

I guess I will have to check with Charter. (I just went around with them earlier today on the usual pricing battle.)

If you get it through Charter, you also get it on PC, Phones, etc., right? I doubt I will want that often, but would rather have it than not. If getting it through Charter gives both TV and PC/phone it makes more sense than getting only PC/phone. I would watch on TV 95% of the time. But if I am away and can see Cubs, maybe I would use phone more than I think.

But I hate Charter, and want to drop them.

I may not like Charter or pricing, but I have zero interest in stealing it. Not for me.
