Right, lets waste a bunch of money on a guy who'll be 30.5+ the next time we're competing for a title-genius.

GUYS, WE AREN'T GOING TO BE WINNING ANYTHING NEXT YR WITH OR WITHOUT SUH.

Then you shouldn't sign anyone.

You can't bottom out like the Cubs in the NFL.

ND is horrible.

No, we shouldn't sign anyone who will be high priced and certainly will be in decline by 2017ish.

You can plug FA's into spots to round out the team, but a huge investment longterm when you won't be using the 1st couple yrs for contending is silly.

If Suh was 26, this would make more sense...

Curious since he has so many fines, after a few, do they start suspending them ? Is there a limit of fines or do you just keep getting fines.

He is the most dominating player available at any position. He makes everybody, especially the secondary, better. He is only 28. Plenty of mileage left.

You act as if 28 is ancient. He is in the prime of his career and a freak of nature. Turnarounds in the NFL happen every year. The Bears have holes like every team but they have talent. Last year's train wreck was largely due to coaching and pick 6. With a competent coaching staff and adding game changers the Bears will be much better than you assume.

we can draft pass rush d line help with the #7 pick. our secondary was dead last in pass defense last year...need upgrades in the back end for sure

Dominant players on the defensive line are the best and most important asset to a defense. If they can afford Suh, it would be a great signing. Drafting well is first and foremost, but even if they start to do that immediately, it's going to be four years until your top picks need to be paid.

How do you know they won't be contending for two years? That's not how the NFL works in the free agency/salary cap era. In this NFL, you're always rebuilding and always trying to contend.

And you think a coach, reigning from a 4 division title program, with 2 other HC candidates as coordinators, came to a team, who just fired their staff after 2 seasons, to lose for a couple years, to maybe get better?? Your entire thought process is hogwash.

I dunno man. I bet if you asked Pace, Fox, and all the other new coaches they would say " Hey Fuckers, we all came here to suck"

Didn't initially think that signing Suh to a large contract would be worth it. But, Im sure his contract could include the wording that allows money to moved around from year to year to make the cap work. Like, if he is on the Bears next year and they get towards the end of the season and there is some unspent cap space they could use it up on Suh in order to make his cap hit lower in the future years.

Signing him would give us tremendous flexibility in the draft. We could then draft best cornerback or whoever the hell we wanted at 7 or even trade down.

Cut Cutler, and Marshall and there would be enough money for Suh.

Suh would play as an attacking 5 - tech like JJ Watt in the base and resume his 3 - tech position in the 43 under sub package. He would dominate in such a role.

Exactly. Fangio is all about the front 7 attacking an offense. Suh would fit in pretty good, imo. Imagine Vic Beasley lining up on his outside.

Exactly. Although I'd prefer any of the other OLBs to Beasley but that is another discussion.
