I forgot that there are three phases to football...

Which is exactly why I have no desire to dump the money into someone like this. I would rather the Bears spread the money out and improve all three phases as you put it.

No I dont have a desire to see the money he is going to demand spent on one player, and expect that one player to cover up all the other holes we have on defense. The problem with that is if and when he gets game planned for or has a rough game, the rest of the defense will look crap since we depend on one star to cover up for their crappy play. I would take solid play at all of the positions as opposed to crap play at half and stars at the other ones.

Free agency is a bad idea when you pay elite money, to a non-elite player.

Well Suh is an elite player and worth the money.

I agree.

However, I don't feel Suh to be a slam dunk in this system. He could very well be JJ Watt, but we don't know. He's never played the 5-tech before and may have problems we didn't foresee. There isn't anything wrong with people having reservations about going after Suh.
