If Alonso can stay healthy this is a trade that works for both teams IMO. Rex likes to pound the rock and now has a workhorse back that can do it all. The Eagles get a young stud LB which they desperately needed.

This, plus, Rex Ryans butt buddy, David Harris is a FA. Expect him to take over MLB on the Bills

I don't understand what the Bills are thinking.

Probably that backs like McCoy do more for you than backs like Spiller. I agree with them. The Bills just got better.

Great for PFF. They still produced on the field.
Not at all in reality. Now you have a back going from the #1 rated run blocking team to the #32 rated run blocking team. The freeing up of cap space is also huge in this deal. Alonso has had the injuries but little risk when you consider he's still on his rookie contract. Agree with Chip, too much money for a back.

The reality is they did produce yards on the field. If they could produce yards with the likes of Mooby Dixon, they'll most certainly do the same with McCoy. Add in a coaching change and a different scheme and they'll likely improve their PFF ranking. Plus FA and the draft to add players along the Oline. McCoy's got Milage left. He'll prove that this year.

McCoy should have mileage left but there is no denying he is coming off a down year with an excellent run blocking team and his high salary for a RB makes him disposable. Buffalo doesn't have the passing game Eagles do either so it will surely be an uphill battle for him there.

Change your tune now. Before he was just afforded the best blocking.

Just because they had better blocking than the Bears doesn't mean that he was ONLY good because of his blocking, nor does it mean his blocking was the best in the league (despite what PFF says). He's still a terrific player. If I was a GM, one of the first players on my roster would be that all-purpose kind of back. If you can land a good one, you get more from one roster spot than just about anywhere else. Shady had a down year in a down year for their offense. He's still valuable and the Bills are a better team by acquiring him. Especially for a LB whose knees are shot.

PFF will always know more than anyone posting here.

PFF is a joke, only taken seriously by misguided stat geeks, anti-vaccer loons, and awful GMs who just got fired because they're misguided stat geeks.

The Bills will build a better offense than Philly. Watkins and Shady are two top class weapons. If they can find a QB they'll be dangerous.

What's Philly going to do for offense?

Maclin is FA. Are they freeing up money to keep him? I doubt it.

Mariota? Won't they need more weapons - one of whom is an NFL QB?

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports new Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to "make noise about wanting an extension," and could even threaten to decline to report to training camp.
Per La Canfora, the Bills are "bracing for that already." A trade is a perfect time to angle for a new deal, but already due at least $6.9 million each of the next four seasons, Shady isn't going to get it. McCoy will likely/understandably be sour about the deal for some time, but he's going to work for one of the league's great salesmen in Rex Ryan. By the time camp rolls around, Shady should be hungry to prove he's still one of the game's best offensive players. Mar 3 - 7:13 PM

Eagles releasing Trent Cole as well. Already released Cary Williams. They are clearing up cap for something.
