Game 1 left a lot to be desired for us Blackhawks fans, as Chicago appeared to control much of the play and the scoring chances, yet failed to capitalize enough in a 4-1 loss to the Ducks for the Hawks' first loss in nearly a month. Game 2 now finds the Hawks trailing in a series for the first time this postseason. Making matters worse in Game 1 were a couple of brief moments of ineptitude from David Rundblad, and Anaheim made the Hawks pay each time by burying the puck in the net. Those two incidents appear to have cost Rundblad a roster spot, as Kyle Cumiskey will likely suit up in his place on Tuesday night.
But the sixth defensemen for the Hawks shouldn't matter; not on a team with as much forward depth as the Hawks. Anaheim's defenders need to prove they can still hang with the Hawks in a 7-game series, as Game 1 did not provide a definitive answer from the Ducks we no longer consider mighty.
Win Game 2, and all is forgotten, as the Hawks will head back to the UC with the home ice advantage in hand.
