Why is Matt Forte Scared to Run Between the Tackles?

This is crazy talk seeing everyone want to carry 4 (some even want 5) backs.

All because the guy everyone loves (Forte) is scared to take a bump. The guy is 6'2" 218 and is still small enough to be able to find hole up the middle/between the tackles. The Bears haven't had a great bruteforce rusher since Thomas Jones - that guy could truck anyone.

Forte is the best receiving RB in NFL history, the record books prove that. But, the bears are known for "no fear" backs that would go into the trenches and risk a big hit to hit a gap down the middle knowing they would ultimately get creamed.

Let me list a couple:

Gale Sayers
Walter Payton
Neal Anderson
Rick Caseras
Willie Gallimore

You can't put Forte anywhere near that bunch. His inability to go inside hinders not only the run game but the whole team... it forces Jay to audible out of run plays and throw to a receiver that's not open because he has no run game support.

This thread isn't meant to condemn Matt Forte - more so wondering why he is too scared to do interior runs?

IF the bears are SERIOUS about correcting their run game on 3rd down and short or goal line, I highly recommend they trade for Kenjon Barner from the Eagles. Chop Kelley already has Murray and Mathews as 1 & 2 on the depth chart - Barner is expendable.

Not only is Barner what John Gruden calls a "beef back", he can also be a punt return specialist. He already has 2 returns for TD's this season 68 & 92 yards respectively.

BRING MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY SENTIMENT BACK TO THE BEARS RB'S!

Love your Barner fanboy appreciation, and as a beavers fan I acknowledge he's a true talent, beast that needs to be unleashed but who do we trade?

I love Forte but he's not the same type of back. He's not afraid of the gut but isn't effective like a true beef power back that we don't even have on our roster. So who is the trade?

ND is horrible.

1) No he isn't.

2) No they don't.

3) He has never excelled at running inside, so what's the point of decrying that reality it in his perhaps last yr as a Bear. Lot's of backs are bad in passing downs in one facet or another and therefore necessitate another roster spot, pick your poison.

Yeah like anyone is going to count that roided up monster, Marhsall Faulk.

Although Barner has a similar build.

Fucking asterisk needed. Forte is a beast in the passing game but not between the tackles. Why don't you address the actual subject ever? You always go after posters with semantic or fact checking minutia bullshit nitpicking. Always derail conversations so you can show of your OSU debate club skills. Get a life!

If Sexy could have had a full year with Forte, I think you would see a Superbowl champion, because I see no reason why them playing together would stop you from watching the Superbowl later.
