I'd prefer him fired mid-season if he doesn't get it turned around immediately. And then just put Dee Brown in there.

This is the first game I've been able to watch this year, this team is terrible. I can't decide which is worse, Illinois foootball or basketball. I hated the Groce hire then and I hate even more now. This team is light years away from competing for anything.

I wasn't addressing excuses. I was addressing your expectation of something different even though they don't have 1's or 5's nor does it seem that they have anyone on the coaching staff who can coach defense.

I haven't accepted mediocrity. I understand that they will likely win about 5 B1G games this season and don't feel the need to whine about the obvious on a message board where nothing can be done about it. It's an interim team. There isn't even an AD to bitch at with a phone call or email right now. Groce is going to get one more season with hopefully Abrams and Thorne coming back. Also adding in TJL. Then check the recruits for 2017. If it's no good, the new AD will let him go. And yes...watching Kansas against Oklahoma the other night with two former Illini coaches was a great game. That's what Illinois basketball should look like, so your acceptance of mediocrity BS comment is that...BS. Groce isn't going anywhere soon because unlike Beckman, he can win a press conference.
