Then of course the most obvious QB whisperer problem was how poorly Trestman communicated with Flacco and the poor results that followed.

2014 Flacco / 344 comp / 554 att / 62.1% / 27 TD (4.9%) / 12 INT (2.2%) / 3986 pass yards / 7.2 YPA / 19 sacks / 91.0 rating

2015 Flacco / 266 comp / 413 att / 64.4% / 14 TD (3.4%) / 12 INT (2.9%) / 2791 pass yards / 6.8 YPA / 16 sacks / 83.1 rating

As you can see the comp% went up like it normally does in a Trestman offense but its so predictable that defenses thrive against it, in part because it calls for a ton of short, high% plays, that are easily defended.

Oh I know, I know excuses excuses. The defense was banged up and the offense had some injuries. Meanwhile, if there is one thing I have learned about talking Bears football on the "interwebs" forums. It's that the QB is the reason things go or don't go. A good QB makes his WR better and if his O-line is bad he gets rid of the ball quickly. Which in this case wasn't a problem for Baltimore, their O-line still protected quite well for the immobile statue that is Flacco. So don't start with the excuses, the injury excuse is something every team deals with. :yep:

All I know, is that I'm happy Dr. Death has moved on. Good luck to Baltimore in year 2 with Trestman. He still owes them a good year, so maybe next year Flacco & Dr. Death will bounce back.

As for the money he makes...well the 2016 cap hit of $28,550,000 and $25,850,000 dead money are minor issues for them to resolve in the off-season. Currently making him the 2nd highest QB salary cap hit in 2016 & making him the #1 highest QB salary cap hit in 2017.

Which is probably the best thing Trestman has done for the Ravens and why John Harbaugh brought him into town. They knew he would help lower Flacco value and get him to renegotiate his insane 2016 / 2017 / 2018 salaries through a possible contract extension. While at the same time help insure the team a much better draft selection.

2. Which in turn made life much harder on the defense due to all the offensive turnovers

5. Brought them their first losing season since 2007 when the team was 5-11

It's going to be an exciting off-season for the Bears. While on the other hand, for Baltimores sake, I hope they can rectify all the damage that Trestman has done to their Super Bowl winning QB that is currently a $28+ million dollar cap hit in 2016.

My guess is that if things get better next year, it's because they bring someone else in behind the scenes and let them run the offense. While allowing Trestman to save face publicly but keeping him from doing further damage to the Ravens ability to win games.

Of course they could allow him to roam around a little more without a leash on. In which case Trestman will make things worse & be fired before the 2017 season arrives.
