First off this is not a Grimson proxy post.

Toews is obviously beyond what you call off to a slow start, his offensive stats are down. Is old age catching up to Hossa and no Saad the reason :thinking: ?
I thought this was a good read from Scott Powers.

Toews is still projected to finish with 29 goals, one more than he scored in each of the past two seasons. But his assists will certainly be down. He currently has 16 assists, and he’s never had less than 28 in a season. He had 38 assists last season and 40 the year before.
One explanation for Toews’ decline in assists is his linemates aren’t scoring at the same rate as they have in the past. Toews had 15 primary assists in 5-on-5 play during the 2013-14 season and had 17 last season. He has just five this season.

He was awful in November and the start but a large portion of December/January he was at a PPG pace in like a 20 game stretch.

Oops.

Anyway, we all know Toews is going to be judged on what happens in the postseason. It did look like he was playing better over the last month or so. If he keeps up that after his suspension, I think we'll look back on his first half as nothing more than an interesting footnote.

He had a bad slump but he's been much better, than criticism doesn't need to stop but really should go away for a while. What the fuck is the guy supposed to do when Kane won't share any of the points with the rest of the league. He's still doing a lot of things that made him the captain and while he's having statistically his worst year he's still 3rd on the team in points.

He's on his pace with goals but behind on assists. How much does no Saad and Sharp hurt his assist count?

AND... he's tied for the team lead for most fights this year.

Mostly Hoss struggling to score all year combined with the rotating carousel of putzes on his left. Usually I don't mind Q going all mad scientist with the lines, but this year he's just provided no stability at LW up there. He seriously should have just picked one of the young guys whom looked decent in camp and stuck with him rather than rotating guys in and out every several games when they don't produce.

I do see your point about all the LW instability but did any of those guys merit a permanent spot on the top line?
