The last time these two teams met, it was in the Lone Star State a few days before Christmas, with Dallas breaking a scoreless tie in the second and then an early third-period goal opening the floodgates for a 4-0 stars victory. That was part of a brief two-game slide for the Hawks that was followed by a 12-game win streak.

Tonight's game will mark the second matchup between the two Western Conference powers, with another coming next Thursday at the United Center. While we all know its postseason success that defines a team's season, better results against the Stars in these games could be the difference between home ice and road ice in a potential playoff series.

Jason Spezza is out "week-to-week" with an upper-body injury.

Toews becomes a man possessed in special teams situations. He had half a step back in his own zone and bulldogs 90 feet against resistance and wills himself a shot on goal. Hossa cleans up but Toews gets that look in his posture and its on.

He picks his spots for sure, but he loves those shorties.

AA puts one in, another shorty. Hossa just misses another on assist from AA. We are pawning these guys. We win Thursday and we have distance and precedence in their minds. They know.

Extended my business trip to Dallas to see the game tonight... Men against boys... Crawford was sharp all night. The Russians and Kane did their usual amount of damage. There were so many Hawk fans in attendance it was almost like a home game. Great time!

My initial thoughts on this year's Hawks was re-tool a bit and go for it again in 2017. I mean that's been their M.O. since 2010...win every other year. After last night, I'm starting to believe they can repeat....this was a HUGE game for Dallas after righting the ship a bit the last week or so. To be thrashed like that at home in a game where I'm sure they wanted to make a statement....ouch. I'm sure Sharpie is telling his new team mates that it'll take a far better effort than that to beat Chicago.
