I probably didn't support him as much as I should. Might have taken him a bit for granted. Admit now, I was a bit saddened when I first heard the news. But it's been about 13 hours ago now, so I'm over it. #movingonwithjeremyhandsofstonelangford

This is a bad move. Not horrible, but bad.

I believe in the better to cut ties a year early than a year late. The problem is this is probably 2-3 years early. I would rather cut ties a year late than 3 years early.

They did not offer him anything. If he would have taken ~3 years at 3 per that is very reasonable. They still need another RB. They can spend 1.5 million on some garbage and pray they catch lightning in a bottle. They can spend another 4th on a RB. They have too many glaring issues to waste another pick on a RB. Forte and his home town discount would have given a better production to cost than the scrap heap guy they bring in for ~1.5 million.

They have a bunch of cap space so the extra 1-2 million or Forte this season is not going to hurt their ability to bring in talent.

All this move did is make a bad team worse. It did not help them going forward. They still have to spend resources on a RB. It is not saving cap space for some sud they are going to bring in.

This reeks of a move where people are basically clueless about resource allocation.

Two seasons most would have said the Bears best 5 players on offense were: Marshall, AJ, Forte, Long, and either Bennett or Cutler.

No Marshall is gone. Forte is gone. Long is coming off a bad season at RT. Bennett may be cut. Yeah that is not getting better. They have not replaced the talent they are letting walk away.

I am disappointing in this team. Of a player has a couple of year left, and is willing to play under market value that is a good thing. That is how you get better. You sign players who have value to under market value contracts. Letting guys walk so you can spend similar resources on worse talent is about the worse thing you can do.

Denver for sure. Indy. I'm sure Dallas will make an attempt. San Fran would make sense schematically. Arizona. Depending on McCoy's legal situation Buffalo...

Would be "outside of the box" for them but Forte in New England would be football porn.

I don't wanna root for the fucking patriots but it would be pretty glorious to what what they do with him.

Pace did Forte a favor. I'd question Forte's passion to win if he wanted to resign in Chicago given the current state of the team. People seem to forget that this was the worst team in the North, which was not a good division this past year.

Seattle is a bad fit for Forte because of Wilson. Wilson couldn't even figure out how to utilize Jimmy Graham.

Patriots make sense but the Patriots don't pay even below average money to RBs.

I think Packers roll with Starks who is probably as good as a fit as Forte if he was the feature back. It's Lacy that blows.

Dallas would probably offer him the most money.

Going to miss Forte, great Bear and good dude.

But those who think Pace and co. didn't want Forte back at all are thick headed. Yes free agency tampering has already been taking place between agents and teams and Forte's agent brought to Pace his client's current market value. Obviously that number was higher than the Bear's were willing to go. Given Forte's age, position, and mileage on his tires I don't fault Pace.

sad day. his pass catching ability will be missed, but something I think we've all forgotten is that RBs are supposed to run the ball and WRs are supposed to catch. that was icing on the cake with Forte for so long. I thought Langford actually got better at catching as the season went on, but what do I know.

now the attention's all on what they do with Jeffery.

Jeffery is a Bear next year no matter which way it goes. Only thing for Bears to think about is with his injury history. I'm not sure if the franchise tag and make sure he can stay healthy approach is better than the long term deal at this point.

I still maintain he's the only great receiver they've drafted in forever. this is the team that was supposed to be where receivers go to die. we were majorly spoiled by him and Marshall for a couple years. I'm optimistic for other players we saw in 2015 though... Wilson has his own injury problems though. Mariani got shit on by everyone but he was actually a pretty sure target.

they'll find a way to fuck up Bennett too though, I'm sure. lol

Anyone who said this a dumb move deserves to be a fan of a bottom feeder. Smart GMs do not sign forte to a lucrative deal unless he is a missing piece to a Super Bowl run. There will be a plethora of decent running backs bears can add to complement Langford and Carey.

I see it as Pace ending up being the next Jerry Angelo. Bite off your nose to spite your face.

Haha it's hard to tell these days when you have posters like DJMoore_is_a tard, who wasn't joking. But fair enough, consider yourself removed.
