What would you need to see from Jay and/or the bears in 2016 for YOU to justify keeping Jay around for 2017 and beyond?

Discuss.

Make the playoffs with Cutler putting up above average league numbers. Simple as that.

Things that would never happen and I have been done believing they are going to happen for 2 years. Clearly, 5 years too late.

If Jay takes us to the Super Bowl, then, on the way to the Super Bowl, the team bus is blown up in a terrorist attack, and Jay crawls from the wreckage as the sole survivor and literally single-handedly wins the Super Bowl by playing the other team 1-on-11 on both offense and defense, then maybe I might think it would be reasonable to keep him around for 2017, mainly due to the fact that he would be the only non-deceased player on our roster at that point.

And even then, you'd have to ask yourself if that contract is reallllly worth it or not

I want Jay to show that he can lead the team and elevate the play of the others around him. I don't think this team will be good enough for the playoffs this year, but he needs to justify the Bears keeping him. His entire career he has basically needed a top 5 defense, offense and special teams for the Bears to actually contend for anything. That shouldn't be needed with a franchise QB.

On a running team? Makes as much sense as your last thread.

25 td's, 10 ints and a playoff berth

So, something he has never done.

Fingers crossed?

I don't think you guys even have a grasp of what suck, average, above average or elite is. You simply just throw out whatever words that works in your argument at the time

For me, I'd like to see 4000 yards, 2-1 td/int ratio, and a playoff win. I think that's more than fair.

Again 4000 yards on a running team?

Last year, 12 qbs threw for 4000 yards or more. Some names who were right on the cusp (Carr, newton, roethlisberger) either missed game(s) or made up for it with their legs. Even cutler was only 340 yards off from 4000. (!)

This whole "running team" mantra is meatball shit. 4000 yards is not some astronomical number in a league where we're seeing some QBs throw 5000 yards almost routinely. Cutler will have ample opportunities to put up 4000 yards. He needs to put up.

Russell Wilson, Tom Brady and Carson Palmer were the on QB's to accomplish this last year. Jay is fucked by those metrics.

To me the yards and TDs aren't a huge factor. I am more focused on WINS and turnovers.
