In a span of about 15 minutes, three bombshells were dropped:

Edmonton traded Taylor Hall to New Jersey for Adam Larsson

Nashville traded Shea Weber to Montreal for PK Subban

Bob McKenzie reported that Steven Stamkos is staying in Tampa.

Holy shit.

Stamkos reportedly getting $8.5m AAV, which is going to make the Toews/Kane deals look a bit high.

All the news days... yeah the perceptions of the cap rising when Kane and toews signed really bite them with Canada dropping the cap pace

I feel bad for Montreal, and I'm not even a fan. Brutal trade.

Cue the meatballs wondering why Kane/Toews aren't "lunchpail" players.

There are rumblings about Lucic going to EDM, but not really sure on the validity of it.
How did today become the "splash" day in the NHL?

Guessing the early time teams got to talk with pending UFA players and some players having NMC/NTC/etc kicking in after June 30th (Anisimov included). Sure has been a crazy one.

Great deal for Tampa. Great deal for NJD who could really use some scoring. Coin flip for Mon/Nsh - I think both teams definitely will benefit.

that can bite them in the ass too doesnt nba have that? Didnt that give time for clippers to mess up an agreed upon deal between jordan and mavs? I could be wrong but I think thats how that went down

Much was made of Subban having a kicking in nmc too. So that had to be finalized.

But now if Lucic doesn't sign or gets a horribly overpriced bad 7 year term deal the mocking of Chiarelli will grow

He was fairly quiet vs Hawks for the finals series, and he has never won a cup. He's a great player but not to that level so far in his career. Kane and Toews had cups and showed up in big games.

Nashville has themselves a legit on paper contending roster, if Laviolete can keep that team gelling but so much is depending on if Rinne can stay healthy or in the groove he was I'm and out of lately.

Canadiens and Oilers got absolutely hosed today

Why would you trade Subban, the superior player, who is 3 years younger and signed for 4 less years?

Because he's got a personality. That's forbidden in hockey.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Am I the only one hoping some New Jersey Hockey rag had the headline of "Whoa-oh Here She Comes..."? Or did they skip it because Adam Oates is no longer part of the coaching staff?

They went from the best team in hockey to a total shit show in the span of 1/2 a season. lol.

I never understood why Suppan wasn't part of the franchise core. Good luck to them....but at this point I just feel bad for Canadien Hockey. What the hell are they doing?
