I'm going to bed..
They will either lose to another crappy team
Or
Figure out how to score a few runs these last 3 innings and win..

Good thing they don't play the Twins this weekend

Loved the high shot they showed of Contreras running the bases....that kid can run. He might be the fastest catcher in the league.

Wonder if Bryant is hurt? He's out of the game. That would be just a perfect fit to what's been going on lately.

I am altering my "Try Not to Suck" T shirt to insert the word "Harder" after "Try".

Even Maddon is slumping....2 on with no outs and you don't bunt?

Cubs have morphed into one of the worst teams in baseball. Not a chance in hell they would win a single playoff game. Forum members and ESPN reporters claiming this is one of the best teams in history are fucking morons.

AL teams should be better: they spend more money and time developing their DH than NL counterparts. When a NL team goes to the AL, they add their bench hitter to the lineup in most cases not as good as say a median DH in the AL. There isn't that much of an advantage for NL teams when AL teams come to their ballpark.
Not going to start this again full out, but you are wrong. The NL is always at the advantage.
1) The AL has to use resources on a DH where the NL does not allowing other positions to be stronger than the AL counterparts
2) The AL loses a prime player going to the NL parks putting their roster at a disadvantage
3) The NL gains a bat by losing the pitcher thus making their lineup stronger in AL parks

Maddon needs to bring in a magician. Maybe he can get lefties out.

I think the break is coming at an ideal time for the Cubs. They can not only rest and get their players on the DL back (they have been ready for a few days as has been reported on WSCR and WMVP) but they can also plan their attack on the bullpen issues and get that sorted out prior to the remaining dates in July.

Another thing most people don't understand is that the Yankees are going to draw this out as long as they can.

The Yankees aren't completely removed (yet) from competing. That means at least another 2 weeks of us suffering with 6th-8th inning pitching. That gives them 2-3 more weeks to really decide to sell. That's also 2-3 more weeks to have the Cubs/Giants/Rangers and anyone else who needs relief pitching help bidding against each other (and themselves) for the services of Chapman & Miller if the Yankees do decide to sell at the deadline (which seems likely).

Theo can't force Cashman to move Miller right now...unless he says the word...and the word is 'Schwarber' -- which isn't happening.
