They need to pay Arrieta and have an expensive one for 5-7 years, and play in 40+ playoff games over that span to recoup the cost.


Plenty of pieces to acquire cost controlled help once Lackey hangs it up and Hammels departs, hopefully they can keep Hendricks or he brings back a bounty.

Total embarrassment of riches.

Why? The guy has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past two seasons. And he just turned 30 so he's looking for a 6 year deal. I say pay the guy what he wants. Good starting pitching will always be in demand and in short supply. We are very fortunate to have 5 quality starters who have all looked great since the break. I'm thinking Arrieta will be getting his contract in December if not sooner.

You probably have to pay Arrieta

but all the 5 inning starts this year is really concerning
