Yep, the NFL PR hawks don't have to pre-justice carpet bomb the Elliot-district with suspension because they aren't playing football yet.
Plus, you don't want to confirm your new superstar is a woman beater when it maybe false, and instead highlight players are going to be victims of press-parasites.

Update: Ezekiel Elliott kept phone messages which reportedly prove he didn't hit ex
Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott reportedly has text and phone messages that can prove he did not assault his ex-girlfriend according to Mike Leslie of WFAA in Dallas.
These accusations are looking sketchier and sketchier with each passing hour. Elliott reportedly "has messages saved on his phone proving his ex-girlfriend is trying to set him up." These include screen shots of the alleged bruises, which Elliott claims actually occurred in a bar fight between the alleged victim and another female. Four witnesses interviewed by police, including the driver of the car in which the alleged assault happened, all dispute that an assault took place.
Meanwhle, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram cites a source that claims the incident stemmed from the fact the first-rounder from Ohio State broke off a relationship with the woman. The source said the “alleged victim said she would ruin him if he did.”
Both the police and the NFL have launched investigations into the incident.
