Smith is a side arm guy which i remember Maddon suggesting he liked. So, guess that was the reasoning behind this. Castillo isn't a huge prospect but he pitched well this year. He was the highest upside guy in the 2 players the cubs dealt Campana for.

Puig was told he would be traded or demoted to AAA. He flipped out and left Dodger Stadium. He is not on the team flight.

I read where I think his wife or mother is ill and lives in Cincinnati.
So, the Angels were looking for a team close to Cincinnati to move him too..
I wouldn't make this trade a big deal one way or other
He won't be on playoff roster
