Here is a little reminder about teams and how the playoffs would end up for teams that won the World Series so if the Cubs fall down 1-0 or 2-1, deep breathes are necessary

2015 Kansas City Royals
Trailed the Astros 6-2 in the top of the eighth, game four, down 2-1, in the ALDS

2012 Giants
Trailed the Giants 3-1 in NLCS
Trailed the Reds 2-0 AFTER LOSING AT HOME in the NLDS

2011 Cardinals
Trailed the Rangers 3-2 in the WS, trailed 7-4 B8, 7-5 B9, 9-7 B10
Trailed Phillies 2-1 in NLDS

2007 Red Sox
Trailed the Indians 3-1 in ALCS

2006 Cardinals
Tied 1-1 in the top 9th in game 7 of NLCS

2004 Red Sox
Trailed 3-2, B9, Marino Rivera on the mound, in game 4, down 3-0 in ALCS

2003 Marlins
Trailed series 3-1, trailed 3-0 in T8 of game 6 of NLCS

In the past 40 years, the only National League team with 100 wins that won the world series was the 1986 Mets.

Sounds like a 100 win team is due.

All this "100 win teams can't win" talk is nonsense. They have just as much of a chance as anyone else in the playoffs. People talk like it's some kind of handicap.

Yep every year is different and no teams of the present can be prepared to those of previous years. People say it's been 108 years since the Cubs won -- but the 2016 Cubs team has never played before. It's a different team than any other that we've ever had. We'll just have to see how it plays out.

It's not always the best team that wins -- it's the team that gets hot at the right time. But just because we're the best team doesn't mean we won't be the one that gets hot. Look at Lester and Hendricks -- they are peaking right now. Arrieta is coming off a solid performance. Chapman is as electric as ever. Bryant is playing well. Heyward is coming around.

We'll just have to see what happens. This team is completely independent of any other Cubs team in the past. I'll tell you this, if we advance past the NLDS -- I would be scared to death to play us.

What about Hendricks. Dropped his ERA to 1.99, still scheduled to pitch the season Finale. Wonder if Joe is gonna still have him pitch. We know there are 4 days between games for the cubs, so kyle would be pitching on the 5th day if he gets game 2, but it seems like if Joe uses him in the finale, he might get game 4.

He'll pitch the last regular season game. Need to keep his rhythm and he's trying to win a Cy Young. If he pitches Sunday, then pitches game 2 of the NLDS, that's 5 days off instead of the usual 4, which is perfect in my opinion. No way Maddon waits until game 4 to use one of his Cy Young candidates.
