I agree - but Joe is hoping Contreras breaks out of his slump. I'd probably go with Ross though. Lets hope it works out.
Joe thinks Contreras can control the running game game better. Arrieta doesn't hold runners well.

Contreras should be done for the series as a starting catcher. I think Contreras is one of the mistakes that Maddon has made in the playoffs. He has not been good behind the plate in any series and his bat is extremely cold. Ross should be starting. I would take Montero over Contreras now. I hope this does not blow up. Jake has been very up and down. I don't suspect he will pitch a great game with Contreras back there. Best case is probably 6 innings with a run or two.

I know Ross is a good catcher, but the athleticism with Contrares is saving balls to the wall. Remember, this is not wrigley with 15 feet to the seats, lots of room back and around the plate if a ball gets past the catcher, a runner could score from second.

Wow sounds like Joe is preparing for Miller to pitch innings 4-7 with Allen coming in for 8-9.

This is a 4 inning game tonight.

Cubs are getting good swings against Miller and Kluber. Agreed this needs to end early, but getting add ons against this pen would be huge for Wednesday.

The catching situation is a catch 22....like that one?

Ross is probably the best defensive catcher
Arrieta has better numbers with montero (and maybe ross)
Contreras probably has the best arm (but ross has looked good with lester)
Ross probably manages the game and emotions the best

Montero offers a left handed option (but hasn't started much last 2 weeks)
Ross offers little at the plate
In theory contreras offers the best bat but it's been baez-esque I'm the WS swinging at off speed crap way outside the zone

With contreras starting you get a position with probably no moves to be made as he probably won't be removed

Starting either of the other guys allows for a pinch hitting opportunity

I get the contreras move as its basically a 4-5 inning race to the lead but he's been really bad at the plate and beyond annoying behind the plate with all his throws to bases, visits to the mound and dont know if he commands the respect of the ump on close pitches like ross/montero do (which is a bug factor esp with jumbo tron Joe west looking to be the game 6 star)

I would be ok with 8 innings and a 3-1 game

Joe would have to be kidnapped for a complete game to be possible
Why..
If Arrieta pitch count is low and he got a shutout going and they have a good lead..
Hed be a moron to pull him..

This will be Arrieta last start.. no need to pull him unless it necessary

Hoping Joe West doesn't try and use this spotlight to make the game about him.

Don't give away outs....make Tomlin throw strikes and pray Vanover is not behind the plate.
