After a 4-game homestand against basement-dwelling teams like Detroit and Buffalo and a scuffling Nashville Predators roster, the Hawks schedule turns heavily in the other direction this weekend. A matchup with the red-hot Minnesota Wild awaits on Sunday, but before that the Hawks head to the nation's capital to face the Washington Ovechkins Capitals fresh off of a 5-2 win in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. The Caps are rolling with 8 wins in their last 10 and they're doing it with many of the usual suspects. Ovechkin is still lethal with 21 goals, while 4 others have already surpassed double digits at the halfway point of the season. And if you're able to stop that multi-faceted attack, then you still have to solve Braden Holtby, he of the .932 SA% and 1.90 GAA this season. Going to be a solid challenge tonight.

LET'S GO HAWKS!!

Holtby and Ovechkin have been on fire lately. Definitely going to be a test. Should be a good one.

When the calendar flips over during the NHL season, the Hawks always seem to let up off the gas just a little bit. But there were usually one or two games against top-tier opponents where they wake up for another night and rise to the level of their opponent. It'd be cool to see that tonight or Sunday vs. Minnesota.

Or both.

Gotta love Washington. Great, great regular season team. Of course, they never win shit but they are awesome during the regular season.

A very-Trestman like performance tonight from the Hawks....

and no matter how good Washington looks, they will not make it to the ECF.

It was worse watching it than the score indicates. Definitely qualifies as a "complete debacle". Worst passing all year.

Went out to dinner with the better half last night, got home turned on NHLN and decided I was glad I missed most of the game.

I think I'd rather step in front of a Al MacInnis slapper then watch that nightmare again. Holy fuck.

That division could be a nightmare in the playoffs with Columbus, Washington and Pittsburgh all in it.
